for instance:
i'm at the grocery store and my package of steaks leaks on my hand....do i now, have E. coli on my hands or is it just some beef that carry it?
is it the same with salmonella and trichanosis???
i mean, if all eggs contain salmonella, then why don't i get sick when i eat a spoon of raw cookie dough???
thanks for any clarification!

Yes, thank you all....i do know i need to wash my hands if i touch raw meat. i understand cross-contamination when cooking, also.
i'm just wondering if ALL raw meat and eggs carry the bad stuff or if it's just some.
thanks.

Not all raw foods are automatically contaminated. You can never be sure, unless you were to examine your food with a microscope, which is why it's safest to make sure you cook meat and eggs thoroughly and wash your hands after working with raw food.
Some foods are also less susceptible to contamination. Red meat is an example. I eat very rare steak all of the time and have never gotten sick. Eggs are also safe 'most' of the time. Poultry and pork are more dangerous, though.

Don't worry about that. May be your hands are more contaminated than fresh meat. Bacteria are everywhere. It is important not to eat the patogen bacteria like salmonella. And not all egg carry salmonella.

Not necessarily all meat has ecoli in it and the same with eggs and salmonella. However, if you do get the blood on you, I'd wash my hands anyway. You don't want to continue touching things with that on your hands.

That is why we wash our hands every chance we can. Yes you hands are contaminated each time you touch raw meat or blood.
Raw cookie dough has been prepared to be ready for cooking. (flour, sugar, yeast, etc.)
Not the same as raw beef, chicken, fish.

yes they are!!! it takes like 30 seconds to wash your hands but 2 years to die an excruciating death from salmonella!!! actually i don't know how you die from salmonella but i bet it doesn't tickle!!!! and dude, eating raw cookie dough is NOT smart... i know when you're mixing it with the egg beaters you're like "hmm i'll just lick a little off the beaters..." but it's still really bad for you. don't take chances just because you don't see the consequences right away.

Your hands are always contaminated... unless you wear rubber gloves 24 hours a day. The world is just packed full of all manner of bacteria. Basically, your hands are the second dirtiest part of your body... just one step below the mouth.

If the product is contaminated, you could be infected - your immune system may be strong enough to handle the infection. However you could become less immune at anytime and you would get sick from eating infected products.
