Haha! I just borrowed the idiot's guide to learning French and seems to be simple enough. Best to have someone who knows the language to correct yr diction though..

theres a bunch of sites in the net where they give you the essential about french like vocabulary & grammar which step by step you can learn with time....

polar.fle (i think is the address) is cool, but you need to know at least some French to play there.
