Yes it does depend on the workplace and the policies. But most of all it depends on the people as well. Sometimes this can really become something ugly in the long wrong especially if it's just a fling or the two break up.

First off you should not have a relationship in a workplace because when you do everyone knows about it and when you break up everyone sees the worst of it...Also it one way to get fired...

DO NOT GO THERE! That happened to a woman in my office, the guy she had an affair with had to leave his job and she was devistated when it ended. The productivity in the company suffered, we all had to rally round her (she has a very important position within the company) and it was bad all round.
There is a reason that there is a saying, " Don't mix business with pleasure" Unless you work in porn.

Never mix business with pelasure, one should move to a different office or department if the relationship is to continue. many companies frown upon such relationships, check out your code of conduct in the workplace

Closeness creats understanding and sometimes love, you can love a person at your workplace, but be sincere your work too, which is your first duty at work place.

worse thing you can do first if you break up you still have to work with them and still be professional second if you have kids both people have to take the day off of the same job to go to soccer or stuff like that also you wake up with this person ride to work with them work with them ride home with them do the home stuff with them sleep with them and if one person is the boss of the other at work it is hard to forget that they had to get on your case at work where I work we had a few of these happen and they always turn into a train wreck so it is now in our hand book that it is not allowed you will be terminated

love can bloom anywhere... even in workplace... it is okay... as long as the couple are responsible enough... to separate their personal lives when at work... and be lovers when off... if they can do this... then their relationships would succeed
