Unlike dogs, cats are difficult to train and it’s difficult to set limits on their behavior. The most effective thing I’ve found to stop a cat from doing something I didn’t like was to use a small spray bottle of water. They hate being squirted. After a while, all I had to do was say their name, pick up the bottle like I was going to squirt them, and they’d jump down off the counter, get their face out of my coffee cup, etc.
