Do you children have spiderman closes and fairy's, trolls and santa clouse toys. Gos said not to have any other gods in our houses, but even our Christians do not realise that Africa art's for example are gods to other people, so we have gods in our homes who steal our happiness, love, money ect. God will not live in a house where there is other gods. Get rid of them - burn them like the say you must do. Believe me you will not believe how your life will change.

E-mail me if you are serious about the Lord and want to know more

other gods are only other gods if you actually worship the object or what it might represent. Otherwise it's a toy/picture/statue.

Anything that you put before God is an idol or a false god. Money, manicures, clothes, shoes, men/women, sex, drugs, alcohol, even yourself.

Idolotry begins with your ideals. What is the one thing you'll never give up? If it's not faith in God, you're worshipping idols.

Use spell check that is what it is there for. And actually God said in Exodus 20 chapter 1 verse 3 the third commandment 3 "You shall have no other gods before me. Spiderman, Santa clause, and fairy's and troll aren't gods. When He speaks of having different gods before Him he mean in other religions. No worships spiderman, or fairies. I am very serious about the Lord but, I think you taking it too far, I see people like you are the reason people don't get saved and move further from the Lord. If I wasn't saved and I read this question, I wouldn't want to know Him.

Unless I or my children are worshipping their spiderman and fairy dolls, I don't agree that they're other gods. I realize the real danger of children seeing these images as more than they are, and even though I don't have children, I plan on in the future explaining fully, over and over again, the truth about the Lord, and the reality of God versus the fictionality of spiderman. Interestingly enough, and I would like to consider this thought, my parents never told us that santa claus was real for fear that once we found out he was a myth, we would think that Jesus was also a myth. I would say the danger for me is getting into the mindset that material things are so important, and almost having material things in general become like another god to me. Thats something I really have to watch out for, because where my treasure is, there my heart will also be. Thats why I want to store up my treasures in heaven, and not in an expensive car, or in clothes.

Honestly, "other gods" meant things that we put before God in our lives, not images of things. I don't worship my decorations, my kids toys or anything else. But sometimes things like TV and the computer take away my time that I could be spending on things of God, so they are more gods than Santa Claus.

Oh please get a grip and stop watching TBN!

God does NOT say to not have gods in our houses, He says "Thou shall have no other gods before Me" .... don't misquote the Bible, that is definately an abomination to God.

Money is a god to some people, so are you going to burn all of your money? No, of course not, it's not a god to you. Spiderman, Superman, and Barney are just toys for kids, not gods. Elmo and Big Bird are fantastic learning tools for the young, even when they become obsessed by them. My little 2 year old thinks Elmo is the greatest thing since the milkshake, but she also knows who God is, and knows mommy and daddy are ruled by Him.

I'm assuming you are not from America.

Don't confuse America's (and American's) obsession with icons with the worship of false idols.

Our icons (such as our spiderman toys) are a reflection of our consumerism and capitalism, not our religion.

No one here believe that the spiderman doll will protect our house or make our crop yield higher.

America's healthy obsession with fantasy (Santa, etc...) helps us escape from the stress of the real world.

Let me tell you that I have many toys for my grandchildren here in my home and none of them are gods. They very well may be to other cultures or other people, but they are not gods to us. They are toys....pure and simple. We do not worship them and don't think of them as gods. There is one God in our home and it is God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) that we worship. Don't tell me God is not in our home because the grandkids have toys. That is nonsense. I am a very devout Christian Catholic and God is a part of my very being.

Literal translations of 'anything' are always cause for great confusion and trouble. A toy is a toy is a toy. Even Freud said, "sometimes, a cigar is just a cigar", when interpreting dreams.

Let me guess your a Jehovah's Witness? My God is not material and toys are not idol worship. My advice to you is be wary of false prophets and be careful what you preach because on judgement day all will be called and have to give account on one's actions.
