Likewise those who are immature (but sensible) shouldn't have to put up with all the sexual and personal stuff.
What I would like to see is a personal filtering system, so that one could see only questions in selected areas (the ones which one is most capable of answering). I envisage a list of categories with check boxes against them and one could then choose either one's filtered list or 'all questions', very much in the way that one can now view just 'UK and Ireland' questions or 'All English'.
I did put this suggestion in the Forum and got a 'very good idea' from one of the staff but nothing has happened yet.

I agree with you. My issue with the vile language and inappropriate comments is that teens are part of this community, too. I will not let my kids come on here, even the teen. That's a shame, because it's a great idea in theory. I'm old enough to handle the content because -- I'm old! LOL!
Anyway, I have an idea! Just like movies and TV shows have a tag for mature content, the community should have a checkbox for mature content. Maybe that stuff should have its own category that requires a higher level of permission to enter. For instance, when a person writes a nasty little question, that person should be able to check a box that says "mature content." Then, that message could go there. Also, the moderators of this board could move any nasty little messages over to that area to keep the majority of the board clean.
It would be like in Blockbuster's -- there's a room for that stuff!!!

I could not agree more. Obviously, those people who have nothing better to do just don't care about others. I'm optimistic that Yahoo! Answers will come up with something to filter all the filthy language. However, I think it would be difficult to come up with a filtration system for dorky questions.

Maybe Yahoo believes in live and let live? Or it likes the diversity of all the different people on here. Sometimes, people don't know any other way of communicating. If these "stupid questions" or "filthy language" bother you, well, just move on to the next question. Maybe these questions are stupid to you, but maybe not to the person that is asking it? Have tolerance and a lil compasssion. I see people just pick apart peoples spelling and grammar and just tearing these poor souls apart. If you read and try to understand you'll see that they really are looking for answers. That's just how I feel about it. :)

I too feel the same. Actually i had a few doubts about my Yahoo Groups and i started using Yahoo Answers for the same. Most of the prople are using Yahoo Answers for their doubts and for some help, but still there are loop holes in these. There are few people who use Yahoo Answers with filthy languages. this must be taken care by Yahoo, but it is not an easy task as we discuss here. But if it has been doen, everyone will be happy to use Yahoo Answers

Questions that may look stupid to us may look different for the asker or others. Regarding the filthy language, YES, Yahoo! should try to put a better filtering system to filter them. And bad words, YES, quite often we see people abusing others based on religion, ethnic background and color. We the users of Yahoo! should take responsibility and report the abuse instantaneously.

Yahoo is in charge. I recommend that you use the REPORT ABUSE button as soon as you see it. I DO. I hope that if we ALL use the REPORT ABUSE feature, Yahoo Answers will get better and better. We can work together to make it better.
As far as Dumb questions go, here is my take on that. If we were begin to censor Dumb questions, it might limit the usefulness. While I wish that people would think through their questions, I only take on questions that I think that I can answer.
The only dumb question is the one NOT ASKED. You see, if someone does not know the answer, and does not ASK, they still won't.... That would be DUMB.

Well it is freedom of speech , so really anyone can say what they like and if you do not like it ,then don't read it . Simple ,maybe some think a question maybe dumb ,but to the person asking the question ,it maybe serious to them, maybe you have asked stupid question in your life(mom where do baby's come from),it seems stupid when you know the answer, and please anyone says they do not cuss has lied ,just like you say you never told a lie, that is a lie in itself ,you and everyone else in this world has said something to offend someone at one point in time or another,
Get over it .

You know something you are right that is why they have that little thing called report abuse. If you think someone is using inappropriate language report them. If the question is really dumb are to adultish in nature report it. We are the monitors not Yahoo, We report it Yahoo reveuse it then makes a desion on what to do.

Venting is solid.. you may understand even nonetheless that there are various categories of folk and attitudes at right here. do no longer take the synthetic comments so in my opinion. have exciting and in straightforward terms communicate what 'you' like and are seeking for for and forget approximately approximately each thing else. Even the **** heads have a precise to be right here too.
