You can get a prepaid credit card from almost any credit company. Whatever you want your limit to be, you'll need to put down as a deposit (some companies will let you put half down). It's sort of like having a checking account but with credit card rules. After about a year of this, if you keep paying your card off, they will refund your deposit and you will have a legitimate credit card. This is a good way to build your credit.
Credit is a funny thing, though, be careful not to use it to drag yourself down into debt.

Open a checking account. Don't ever go for credit cards when you don't even have business with a bank. No one will look at you twice, and for very good reason. You must build credit before you can get a credit card with any substantial credit line on it.
More than that, it is not smart to do that. You will get yourself in lots of trouble when you cannot meet the minimum and when you have no credit, you are going to get eaten alive with interest.
I say these things because I have been there and wish daily I could go back and change it.

You wont get a credit card without a bank account. Credit card companies want somehwere they can go to take the money if you dont pay up.
You say you are working odd jobs, and you dont have a bank account, why would you want credit? You will just get in trouble. Baby steps, get a bank account first.

You can get a pre-paid credit card which is more like a debit card and those are available at drugstores or at various websites. The other way to do it is to apply with a company like Orchard Bank or Premier Bank. A list of unsecured and secured credit card issuers can be found at the website Creditland.com
Additionally, I would call the customer service department of the credit issuer before I applied and explain your situation.
Good Luck

In you situation, you are going to have a hard time getting a credit card. The only thing I can suggest to you if you want a credit card, and no one is willing to give you one, is to go to a bank and get a secured credit card. This is one by which you put up money as collateral, which they hold for a period of time until you have proven yourself creditworthy.. This may take about a year.Your credit limit will be whatever collateral you put up for the secured credit card.

I have a suggestion, don't get a credit card, why would you want to pay bak 4 or 5 times back the amount you charge??? If you get one to help start creedit, pay off what you charge before the interest kicks in. Without a bank account, you probably won't get one. Trust me, it is for the best. But do get the bank account.
