My son eats the entire cherry without choking or gaging. Is it safe to eat the pits or will it hurt his stomach?

As long as he doesn't get choked,I guess it's okay.I've ate a ton of them and nothings happened to me.And I'm 30,so I guess it's okay.

no, it is not. I will not give my 3 or 4 year old sons cherries with pits, and i have them in the fridge right now. One thing is that if the child bites one he may break a tooth, another thing is that they cannot be digested and are rocks, these can cause digestive problems. They may even get stuck becoming colon polops from what I understand.

By pitted cherries, I know it is not the same, but our jobs as mothers are to sometimes be that bad guy. telling your kid "no more pitted cherries" can be another way for you to practice making rules. We all know how we can use practice on that one.

Absolutely not! He is only 2 years old, and needs an adult to protect him. My question would be--why was he allowed to swallow the first one? Surely, you knew that it wasn't safe to allow a two year old child to have a cherry, without removing the pit first. I would have been concerned after the first one was (accidentally?) ingested, and I would have called the doctor to find out the dangers of that. Many, seemingly, 'harmless' things are poisonous to small children. Even if not fatal, they can make a child sick. For the safety of your child, please do not allow him to put anything 'unusual' into his mouth. As I'm sure you know, a two year old will put anything into their mouths. We as the adults must make the knowledgable decisions for them. It is our responsibility to protect our children, even when something doesn't seem to be that big a deal, it can be dangerous.

No, that isn't safe. An adult isn't even supposed to eat the pit. Cut it up, and take the pit out of the cherry before you give it to him.

It won't do him any harm. Why don't you tell him there's a pit and he shouldn't swallow it. My 2 1/2 year old loves digging the pit out in her own messy way then eating the fruit.

no, don't give him the pit. He could be eating it one day, and fall down, and start choking. I'ts not good for the digestive system either.

No! Tke the pip out. I t may not seem that the pip is doing anything to you son but it could stick in your child's throught.

he might not choke this time but he just might next time, and the stone in any fruit should be removed.
