Cot death is another term for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, also known as SIDS, which is defined as:
A fatal syndrome that affects sleeping infants under a year old, characterized by a sudden cessation of breathing and thought to be caused by a defect in the central nervous system. Also called crib death.

Devastation.
It's the term used for an unexplained/able events resulting in the death of an infant usually, but it can happen in adults. They are usually found dead in their cots/beds, for no apparent reason.
