Rosemary essential oil. One drop in a dollop of your usual shampoo, sit in the suds for 5 minutes, then condition in the same way using a nit comb to remove the beasties.
After drying the hair, put a drop of rosemary oil in the hair behind each ear.
Should see results very quickly. Even when nit-free, do this once a week.
No more nits.

Sure, and this is also good for ANY virus cure.

All I need is some oregano found in my spice rack (making sure it is the brownish crushed leaves), I seep two tablespoons in a cup of hot water the way I would a tea bag. Cover with a saucer (to keep the oils from vaporizing out), and set aside until it cools down, or at least 5 minutes - the amount of time it takes for the heat to get the special oregano oil out of the dried oregano leaves.

For lice: be sure my scalp is not overly sensitive, I would want to mix with water at first so it doesn't burn - it is a strong herb! I put it on in the evening - probably WON'T want to wash my hair beforehand!

For cold/flu: best if done in the first few days (otherwise just keep some of this tea nearby so I can drink a sip as soon as I feel any of the symptoms again). Once the cup of oregano tea is cooled, sip/drink, and then I chew and swallow the leaves. I keep some of the tea nearby at night in case I wake up - one sip then and I will feel the throat ache disappear!

I wonder that it would even cure AIDS or HIV, since there is no man-made medicine that kills viruses.... since the kitchen oregano herb kills all viruses, bacteria, fungi.... hmmm?

This is what I did when my daughter came home with head lice two years ago. I used the generic head lice shampoo as directed. Then when her hair was dry I combed through it with a very fine flea comb. I know you can purchase this type of flea comb on line, but I haven't seen them in stores. The comb is all metal and there are no wide gaps between the teeth. It is very very fine toothed. Everyday I combed through her hair and the repeated the shampoo treatment on the 7th day. The comb will pull your child's hair and they may cry, but it worked. On the first day of attacking the head lice, I removed all stuffed animals and placed them in a black trash bag and put the bag in the attic, I put all the hair brushes and combs in the dishwasher several times, vacuumed everything like crazy, washed all sheets and blankets in hot water, placed all pillows and anything that could be dried in the clothes drier on high heat for 20 minutes. My husband and son shaved their heads. lol I did have to cut my daughters hair, her hair is very thick and at the time very long. I also treated everyone in then house with the lice shampoo and the flea comb. During the time I was fighting the head lice I felt terrible and although everyone told me that all kids get head lice, it still didn't help. Good luck

go to www.gltc.co.uk. I have used tea tree like lots of people have suggested and it is good but if you are having big probs, great little trading co do a fantastic oil which you leave in hair for a couple of hours. They also have the best nit comb ever - metal with spirals which wrap each strand of hair and pull all eggs out. There is also a spray you can use to ensure no reinfestations. I have never had the prob since using this stuff so it is absolutely worth the effort. The range is called Nitty Gritty and I highly recommend it.

My daughter kept getting headlice - not all mums check their children's hair and she kept getting reinfected. Here's what I did in desperation!
I bought a magnifying glass - the kind that has a little light attacked to it.
I washed her hair, stuck conditioner on it, left it for five minutes, then combed it with a nit comb. After I could no longer find any lice, I searched through her wet hair with the magnifying glass. Squishing every egg and louse I could find. Bearing in mind that eggs take two weeks to hatch, I did this every day for two weeks after the last live louse had disappeared. And I complained bitterly to the school too. They organised a headlice week in which no kids were allowed to go to school without their heads being checked. It should have included all the schools in the area.
It's a pain - don't forget to check your own hair too.

Go out and buy the largest bottle of conditioner you can.

Wash your hair really well with your normal shampoo and then LOAD your hair with conditioner (I mean HANDFULLS) - work it in really well - make certain all of your hair is covered in conditioner. Sit with your hair like this for 20 minutes. If you have a "nit comb" comb it through the hair slowly and evenly - discard any conditioner on the comb (wash the comb between combings). You should repeat this process every couple of days for two weeks (seriously!).

The nits will be gone, and your hair will look great.

If you want to, you can add some tea tree oil or similar to the conditioner.

I used to have this problem and got fed up spending loads of money on all these products which turned out to be useless

i now add essentials oils ( a mix of tee tree and lavender) to the water i use to wash my and my kids hair

I also add this to spray in leave in coditioner

i have had very little problem with lice since doing this

head lice do not like the smell of these oils

it may take a couple of weeks to get rid of them but once you have got rid of them i would suggest conmtinuing with the essential oils i do this every time i wash my hair or my kids hair

at the moment my middle child has some (impossible to avoid at school) but they all seem to be dying as soon as they hatch as none of them are moving

I get my essential oils from ebay

good luck with getting rid of them

Make sure you follow the doctor's orders to the letter. Sometimes head lice need two applications of the shampoo.

Also be sure you wash all linens and towels in HOT water to kill any lice that have found their way there. You may want to replace your pillows as well.

Use the comb that comes with the shampoo and comb hair in small sections. Clean the comb after you have combed each section.

Head lice are contagious. I know...my kids all had it from going to summer camp. Check your hair each day after using the shampoo and make sure you do the follow up treatment in a week or so.

If you have it bad, it might be worth considering a drastic measure. Remove the homes the little buggers nest in by having a close shave (well, i did say drastic).

You dont need to go blady, you just need to take it down to a number 2 cut, which removes the majority of the hair and allows better access to your scalp for the treatment to do its business.

In this heat it might be a good thing too (34-36 temps are coming).

Wash your hair as normal, then apply lots of conditioner to wet hair and use a nit comb to comb through. I wouldnt do this sitting in the bath or standing in the shower though (eww itchy itchy bitsys)
Do this once a week to prevent you getting them in future.
