Does anyone have any recommendations on what camera is the best for a regular person taking pictures? I'm not a photographer, and am not going to use the camera for anything professional. I'll be using it to just take pictures for fun so I don't need any types of professional cameras. I'm looking for a good camera around $250-$350. I have heard that sony sucks? Any recommendations? Thanks.

I heard that Sony sucks too but I don't think so. But I suggest Canon because the company became famous for their cameras first. The company used to be called something else but after they launched their cameras that had the black thing infront that opens and shuts, they named it after that tecnique, which is Kan-non (in Japanese. The company is from Japan) so The company decided to re-name their company to Canon because it was more famous that way. They must have some really good cameras huh?

I feel if you buy a digital camera it is of no use, rather you should buy a phone with a good quality camera (2-3 mpix). Many times I have neem able to capture moments which would have been impossible with digital camea. It ia fact you cannot carry you camera every where however you do carry phone almost every where.

So decision is up to you,
do you want to capture unexpected events or do you want to go for planned events

answer is yours

Canon all the way!
They use CMOS sensor while other camera makers still use CCD! Plus the memory they use is SD or Compact Flash! its cheaper per MB or GB
Sony is pretty good too! but Sony Memory sticks are overpriced! you think about it!
