I have always buried my dear cats in a shoe box with only biodegradable materials, like tissue or a small hand-towel/blanket. I believe our animals deserve to return to the Earth that they came from, go to the Rainbow Bridge and when my time comes, we'll all enter Heaven together. I also like to plant a perennial flowering plant at the "head" so if I ever move, hopefully the people the buy my home will want to leave the pretty flowers for all time. Plastic bags do not degrade for a very, very long time.

Cardboard box and tissues seems the most respectful. Plastic Bags... seem cheap, and horrible.

Its up to you!!!! Did you want to go cheap or expensive??? You can use a plastic bag or cardboard box and bury the cat in your back yard. Or you can spend some money and have the cat cremated (???) and have the cats remains with you forever. It depends on how dear the cat was to you.

People are starting to be buried in minimal caskets, made of wicker. This sounds realistic to me. It allows the body to decompose and recycle. Why not do something similar and include some catnip for the trip across the River Styx?

I would wrap the deceased in a plastic bag and then place in in the garbage can when the kids were not looking.
