This "satan" character appears in the bible three times and is mentioned once.
First appearance: the "garden of eden".
Actions: Suggesting adam and eve seek knowledge.
Second appearance: Asking "god" about "Job"
Actions: Tempting "god" to prove Job's "faith". Not much of an "all-powerful god" if _he_ can be tempted....
Third appearance: with jeebus under the baobab tree.
Actions: Suggesting jeebus think for himself.
The mention is in the book of Retaliations - oops, Revelations. Since "Revelations" hasn't happened yet, the claims are unfounded accusations.
So let's see...the sum total of "satan's crimes" is to suggest that people learn and think for themselves, and for that, "god" labels "satan" as the "great evil".
Meanwhile, this "god" character, goes postal kills humanity TWICE. (Third time's the charm, or it took "god" three times to stop screwing up?) As well, "god" is petulant and selfish, killing and mass murdering anyone who doesn't blindly and ignorantly obey, and can't even write a coherent set of rules (the ten condiments - oops, commandments) appears in three forms). And this is the "good guy"?
It sounds more like bad press and propaganda to me. The "winners" do write the history, after all....

first of all, may i say you've got a good question. friend, Satan was once angel of light. That was until he realized his power and how much he could become KING.. that is pride..
It led to his downfall, and lucifer became satan.
a decietful scheming angel wanting to bring more people to hell and burn/suffer with him
*note: satan is not God's counterpart. as most people presume, he is lower than God.
im sorry if i can't answer you're questions directly.

The story goes something like this, Gabriel and Lucifer were both archangels. After time god bean to favour Gabriel over Lucifer, who became jelous and plotted to cast both god and Gabriel out of the heavens. God discovered Lucifer's plot so he cast him and his followers out of heaven and into the bowels of the earth. Lucifer then became Satan, or the devil, and his followers became demons. The rest is history.

He didn't do anything except question the authority of God and God's right to execute someone's soul forever. He was the original civil libertarian. For this he was exiled to Earth and is awaiting execution by God. He started a rebellion in heaven. That is, if you believe religious myths.

UM... *tries to think of a novel concept and fails* he uh... he became him? I dunno! How was Satan even born?! I mean, God's this unknowable presence and Satan's a little man with horns, a tail, and a piece of metal in his hands! Um... bad things... uh... he created fear? I dunno, personally I think that's man-made... yeah, I can't think of anything. I think everything bad that happens, is man-made. I mean, come on. Almost everything has a logical reason, right?
