Pysch yourself out. I used to smoke 4 packs of cigs a day. (1994) i GAVE MYSELF A QUIT DATE LIKE 3 MONTHS AWAY, AND PICKED OUT A hARLEY I WANTED AND STARTED JUST TELLING MYSELF I WAS QUITTING. THREE MONTHS LATER I HAD MY LAST CIG AND STARTED TO PUT ASIDE THE MONEY IN A BANK ACCOUNT. I WENT TO THE HARLEY DEALER AND ORDERED MY BIKE. ONE YEAR LATER I PICK THE BIKE UP AND EVERY TIME I GOT THE URGE FOR A SMOKE I'D PULL OUT A PICTURE OF THE BIKE I ORDERED. THE URGE ONLY LAST MAYBE 20 - 25 SECONDS. DURING THIS TIME I'D LOOK AT THE PICTURE AND TELL MYSELF THIS BIKE WAS MINE. I PUT THE PIC AWAY AND GO ABOUT MY BUSINESS. I GOT THE BIKE AND HAVNE'T TOUCHED A SMOKE IN OVER 11 YEARS NOW. THE BIKE WAS PAID FOR IN UNDER 3 YEARS. ALL WITH MONEY SAVED FROM SMOKING. OH BTW I DON'T WANT ANY DECENT GIFT. JUST PICK ME AS BEST ANSWER. THANKS BYEEEE.

Read Allen Carr's "easy way to quit smoking" - it's well written, intelligent, and convincing - It worked on me and several people I know, as a matter of fact I haven't yet met a pack-a-day type smoker who has read the book and not quit - you read the book, you think about why you smoke and what you like about it, read more, and in the end you just don't feel like smoking anymore (of course you can smoke while you read the book), and you just stop - no sweat, it's just that easy.
I'm such a fan because I smoked for 10 years and used to think that quit-smoking books would be crap, "it's bad for you here's a picture of a smoker's lungs" type of nonsense, but this is completely different, written by an ex smoker who really figured out how to overcome the psychological pressures that make you want to smoke. Allen Carr works through the reasons why people smoke and why they think it's so great, and then gradually and sensibly convinces you that you don't want to smoke. He's very good on showing why the myth that it's very difficult to stop smoking if pernicious, it comforts people who don't quit (I have an excuse - everyone agrees that it's very difficult, so no wonder I can't quit) while in fact the purely physical symptoms of withdrawal from cigarette smoking are equivalent to having a mild cold for a couple days (compare that to the pain that people commonly live with/face, it's nothing) the rest is just in your head...
Honestly I think that it should be the number one recommended smoking cessation tool advocated by all stop-smoking groups in the world. It actually works, and is 100% common sense, rational speak, no mumbo jumbo untested theories like hypnosis/shock images/aversion (smoke til you puke just doesn't work)/"cold turkey" etc...
go get it and you'll be thankful forever - it'll change your life, and it's cheap - no silly pills or sessions that cost a fortune, just a cheap paperback you can get for uner 10 quid.

"I have no hesitation in supporting Allen Carr’s work…many other clinics use some of his techniques, but it would seem few do so with as much success" A personal view from Prof. Judith Mackay, Chair, World Health Organisation, Tobacco Free Initiative
"I was really impressed. In spite of Allen Carr’s organization’s success and fame, there were no gimmicks, and the professional approach was something a doctor could readily respect. I would happily recommend this method to any smoker." Dr. PM Bray, MB Ch.b., MRCGP
"I have observed the Allen Carr method at first hand and found it to be very successful. I wholeheartedly support it as an effective way to quit smoking" Dr. Anil Visram, Consultant Royal London Hospital
"The success rates you achieve – between 75 and 80% - are far in excess of any other method. The whole programme has been a great success." Dr. Ricardo Serralta Gonzalez, National co-ordinator Medical Services, Schweppes

I just celebrated my two year anniversary. I used the Smoke Away Program. It is expensive but it works!! (I got it from Publishers Clearing house flier and was able to make payments) It comes with theses little pills (I think were sugar) you take one every time you get a craving, and that's what did it for me. GOOD LUCK!!

It's psychological. Just stop and forget you ever did. All the hype about how difficult it is to give up is just that - hype. If you just stop, you will want to smke again but you can just ignore it.
Good luck.
