It definitely depends on the person. I completely agree that MANY bus drivers are huge jerks! I used to work at an elementary school and all of the bus drivers who drove us on field trips treated all of us, kids included, like crap; not to mention the drivers drove worse than a child. I hated my experience with them. Take a look at how many horrible bus drivers you see on the roads! They run red lights, cut in front of you, don't stop at their designated stops, etc. It drives me crazy.
However, I can't make a broad generalization that ALL bus drivers are like this, because obviously they all aren't. It's just like if you go to a store or restaurant. You'll usually find a TON of crabby, rude, inconsiderate people working there, but at the same time you'll find a couple polite people who seem completely out of place. My fiance is beginning a school bus driving position next month and he's incredibly excited. I know he won't have the attitude or mentality of half of these rude bus drivers. So, again, it just depends on the person :)

All of the Bus Drivers I have come into contact with (on a daily basis, as I do NOT drive) are always polite and really friendly. A different Bus Company has recently taken over the route that I rely on, and the Drivers from the previous company still come up and chat to me when ever they see me (sometimes they will slow the Bus they are driving down and wave at me).

Once i was at a bus stop with four ohter people and as the bus came we all stepped out onto the kerb and waved, he drove straight past us, smirked and waved. obnoxious, rude and unnecessary. I guess i was a fool to have thought that he was getting paid to pick us up. but then again, i took a bus for about 4 weeks in a row last year and the bus driver remembered me after the first trip, he was really friendly and always asked me how i was. most bus drivers i encounter are polite. there are a few jerks, but it's the same for most jobs.

It depends where you live and how stressful the route it.
Worst route is a school pickup run. My brother used to be a bus driver took his bus of kids straight to a police station as they were acting up.

if you are a youngster and llok rough then he probably thinks you are trouble, or if you are a teenage mother he probably thinks the same but the last time i got on a bus the bus driver was nice - maybe it was because i was with my mum!

They are as rude as f@ck!! You have to practically stand in the middle of the road to get them to stop for you (even if you are a bus stop). They drive like nutters and you get thrown all over the place!! Its also boiling hot and overcrowded
