We all know that exercise is good for you. But we often read of atheletes dying suddendly while exercising. Why is that so? Any real scientific evidence to really show that jogging is good for our health?

Jogging is a fantastic exercise and it builds cardiovascular strength.

The "inventor" of jogging or at least the running era you are referring to was probably Jim Fix, who died of a heart attack. It was my understanding that he died because of a physical problem that was largely hereditary.

Remember, running may great, but it doesn't make you immune to such things as leaky valves, high cholesterol, and / or poor diet. Running doesn't make one's heart bullet proof -- it simply does some good for it.

Here's an article on the health benefits of running:

Jogging is really bad.,
A new report suggests that jogging could be bad for your health, especially if you do it alone. A team of researchers from Harvard University has said that going for a run on your own is not as healthy as people believe. Their research showed that jogging as part of a group is healthier. The experiments they did on rats showed that running alone raises stress levels and slows down brain cell growth. Professor Elizabeth Gould, the research leader, said: “These results suggest that, [with no] social interaction, a normally [positive] experience can [have a negative] influence on the brain.”

Jogging may very well be good for you by why do so many joggers choose to jog along a freeway or highway breathing in all those nasty exhaust fumes & pollutants into their lungs. Also unless proper foot wear is worn jogging can be very bad for your bones & organs. The guy that made jogging popular *Jim Fix* died at a relatively young age so what does he tell those in heaven or hell depending where he went...that at least he died healthy...hahaha!!!!
