There are a few things that could be causing this.
Possibly you are just a person who constantly needs change. I know I am, and when I start feeling like that, or feeling suffocated with what im doing, I move on.
If moving is too drastic, change your living environment. Buy some new pieces of furniture, paint some big paintings for your walls, or even something simple like moving around your furniture. This is appropriate both in the work place and in the home.

You could try taking a different route to work, stopping in a different cafe for lunch, buying a different magazine to read each week.

Invest some time in something creative. Whether it be cooking classes, or art classes. Perhaps try to learn a new language. You need to take your mind off of the mundane, and focus on something new and exciting whilst dealing with the normal life too.

Shopping is an easy remedy, but at times it can remind you of why you bought the stuff. Also it can turn into an expensive remedy.

What I did, was packed up and moved to another country to live. But then not everyone is like me and can just throw everything away without any plan.
Even a month holiday somewhere in a totally different surrounding might be able to help you get your mind around things.

Good luck, I have been in that boat before, and I know how much it sucks, and its draining just thinking and worrying about it.

If you are in a rut, then your brain could be telling you that you NEED TO CHALLENGE YOURSELF or find other stimulation. Instead of working out at the gym. Is there ANOTHER way you can get exercise? (A Recreational activity or the like?)

We are human, and we need stimulation and interests. If you succumb to the same things every day, you need to find GOOD things that interest you and make you feel better.

I would suggest that you GET OFF THE HAMSTER WHEEL and get some good and fun excitement in your life. Only YOU know what makes you tick!

Drive, work, drive, eat, sleep. I know what you mean. I don't even have time for the gym with my commute. It does get tedious. I just set my sights on 7 yrs from now, retirement, and maybe spending time with my grandkids. Are we depressed?

* Sounds like you are depressed about something.
* maybe you are in love and waiting for something to change, which you apparently know most likely wont.
* Said it yourself: "maybe a couple" Ok cant have the guy, try the 3 some.

find a goal for yourself, something close to impossible but have a good chance of achieving. you'll feel your motivation halfway through.
