It is just a name, you are a human being, why would a name matter? There are no particular traits that follow names in most cases unless it is some unique race of people.

I did a short search for your last name - in the US I saw 6 of ya's under Yahoo name search and in Canada I saw 5 of ya's. Now when I did a search thru www.zabasearch.com it came back with 70 (but looking down the list I did see some doubles) you might like to take a look at their list. Also if you go to www.people-search-global.com you can input the name into different countries and try to search it that way - it did come up in Denmark a few times. So hey - you're maybe not as alone as you thought you were.

Not heard of any Geills but you probably haven't had much luck in the reproduction of the family that's why there aren't many of you, or the generations before had baby girls so the surname got lost.

Try genesreunited.com to search for relatives and people with your surname.

Good luck.

Keep your name the same and name your children Geill.
Well if you are saying ones left are old etc thats why its dying out they didn't reproduce maybe you had a lot of unmarried men in your line.
or maybe alot of your family had girls who closed the link when they married.

I wouldn't worry so much you must come from pure blood stock.
Common surnames means far too many interbreeding.
