Although at first you may believe this a difficult conversion, the actual mechanics of the conversion are pretty straightforward.
1) Remove the cover off your PC; locate the multi-pin connector and wire strip that runs to the CDROM, Carefully Unplug the connector.
Using a small screw driver remove the 2 screws that hold the CDROM in the frame and remove the device. After you have the device removed from the case, replace the cover.
2) You should now have the CDROM in front of you. Carefully read the CD-ROM's serial # and Manufacturers Name, note the model # and color of the connector plug.
3) I suggest that at this point you take some good digital pictures of the CDROM, you will need them in step 4. Insure that you can clearly see the details of the device.
4) You will need to login to the Internet at this point so Power up and reboot the computer; it will need some additional time as it will need to update the system registry. Log on to this web site. WWW.eBay.com. Upload the pictures and place the device up for auction. At the end of the auction, locate a car CD Player for sale; use the money from the sale of the CDROM to purchase this item.
5) Install the CD Player in your car and Rock on.

We've ALL told you , YOU CAN'T. You need a "carputer"!!!!

It doesn't work that way!!!!!! A CD-ROM requires a computer motherboard to use it. It is a computer drive after all.

You need 20 years experience in the field to convert it and then it's still a pain in the aѕѕ and it won't resemble a CD-ROM when your done!!!!! If you look at the back of your CD-ROM and you will notice a 40 pin connector. Thats 40 wires to contend with. You have to know what each one does and that's the "pain in the aѕѕ" part.

The simple way to do it, if you REALLY want it, is to put an actual computer (very small ones are made just for this) in your car. You then can place the CD-ROM in your dash along with a "touch screen" display (takes the place of a monitor and mouse) to access/control it. An inverter (converts 12 Volt DC to 120 V AC) is used to power the system.

Search the term "carputer" for more details than I can give here.

Copy the disk to your hard drive then use Windows media player or Nero to convert the files to WMA's then burn them to a blank CD using the same programs

is not that hard but you should consider that is a normal cd player like the one you got in your living room, that means that has no jump protection and when the car is in moving ( always ) the cd will stop and restart is not a reliable idea,
