yes i found the same i used to carry one every where and use it all the time , i think its because it must be oil based and probably mixing with the sun and dehydrating our lips .
in stead now i use those coloured lip balms they are really nice and subtle , and my lips are lovely and supple and soft .
boots do there own make in a dark and light colours also nivea do a lovely pink toned one .

Yes, my lips get dry after a few hours of applying lip gloss. Thats why i first apply a light shaded chapstick and then apply lip gloss. This way my lips stay wet whole day long.

It's an actual fact, you can become "dependent" on lip gloss and chap stick. Your lips will stop producing their own moisture becuase they become used to the artificial moistures that you put on.
