why would you want to be friends with people who make fun of you?

They will not become your friends. Women bond over strange things, and one such bonding item for women is having a common target to ridicule. So long as they make fun of you, they are distracted from hating each other. It's like Iran and Iraq... the only reason the cease fire held throughout the 90s was because they both hated the US... and as long as the other hated the US, well, they can't be all bad.

Take the proverbial high road: be nice to them, and respectful. If someone else asks about your unusual name, then I think you should tactfully say that many people have joked about it, over the years but that you like it, and it doesn't bother you (or that it used to, in the past, but you've learned to deal with it.) Some people are immature and will use things like this, against you, simply to make you look bad. Don't let them know that it bothers you. You have to work with these people, but you don't have to be friends with them. Thank them if they assist you with a project. Be professional. It won't go unnoticed!

Dude, an awkward name is fine. Problem is you seem to have communication problems as well.

Most people can type simple abbreviations for web conversations, you seem to take intense care to mispell common words.

Should = Shld... "shud" for you

Overall not sure if you've got a more serious problem (fitting in) than just an awkward name. Sorry dude.

Go with the flow and play along. A strange name can be a great conversation starter.

If you approach them and they apologize and show an interest in your name, then it might be cool to try to be friends. If they keep making fun - then you don't need them.
