Caffeine is addictive for one, and in regards to Starbucks in particular, Starbucks either has a higher caffeine measure in their processed coffee beans or they use more coffee in their drinks. I would probably say the answer is both. Starbucks definitely tastes better than drinking mostly frothed milk at the other well-known coffee shops (this is how these shops save money due to the high cost of coffee).

let start, first of all they must have a fat wallet (a lot of money)
a car with gas (need money for gas-fat wallet)
a need for the excessive caffeine in the coffee (fat wallet syndrome again).

and maybe a good paying job to support that fat wallet.

i cannot afford them but maybe once a year and that is lucky then.

well i guess i will have a cup of my Folgers now, since you brought up the subject.

they drive their cars....duh....unless your trying 2 say how many people go to starbucks everyday? i go onces a week.

I used to do it, but it drained a hole in my pocket real quick. Good product, just overpriced!
