ive heard girls call their boyfriends this but they also use this term for their elder bros.

Elder brother, or you can call a boyfriend "Oppa" too. It goes like that.

oppa- for a girl calling her older brother

and for girlfriends calling older guys or their boyfriends just to show respect or be girly or watever.

can be used for both.

its use to the elders with respect....but most of the time it is use to an older guy......u will notice it when watching Korean drama's...
