The Jewish view of Jesus (real Jewish name: Yeshua bar-Yusuf -- Joshua, son of Joseph) is that he was a good and pious Jew, that we was kind and wise man, but neither prophet (as Muslims believe), nor divine.
Jews believe that the Messiah is yet to come, and there's little one can do other than be virtuous while waiting for him.
Unlike Christianity, Judaisim believes in the here-and-now: one should be kind, and moral and charitable simply because it's the RIGHT THING to do, and not because it's the dues that need to be paid in return for a happy afterlife and vague promises of redemption.
As it says in the Talmud: "There is but one golden rule: do unto others as you would have them do unto you; all the rest is commentary."

Jews do not believe jesus was the son of god. Or the Messiah. They look for the day a Messiah will return and save them from their troubles, but they look for a mere man. That is the mistake. Their true Messiah will return again, but before that, they will put the faith into a human messiah and it will be the one who will deceive them by using peace and setting himself up in their rebuilt temple. Watch out, evil times are coming, But after all these things, they will know Jesus really was the true Messiah....they just don't know it yet.

being a jew I can clear up a few things for you people. If you could read and right hebrew you would be able to read the old testement in its true form,Jesus did NOT fullfil the Isaha prophesies. He did not bring peace to the people in fact he made things worse. He can not be the messia because: the word messia comes from the hebrew word meshiach which means Annointed one,or king. All the kings of israel were in fact messias. The Messia is indeed a mortal man.The old testement sais so.In order to be king you must be a descendant of solomon, jesus is a descendant of nathan and not in line therfor to be king. There was no virgin birth, there was no resurection and he isnt coming back.By the way after the so called resurection when he suposedly revealed himself to his desciples he told them to go forth throughout Israel and he woul return before they were through. But of course he didnt and isnt.

I must say that overall I was impressed with the accuracy of the answers.
Anyways, I think Jen (first post) summed it up perfectly.
If he existed, then he was just a guy (and probably a bad guy for leading people astray). However, he's not a person whom most jews talk about. It's just a non-issue. like buddha or whatever.

basically that Jesus was a teacher/rabbi that preached a message of the messianic age and gave comfort to people living in a very difficult time.
unfortunately he soon thought of himself as the messiah or that he must bring on the messianic age and started to rally Jews.
Rome did not like this and feared that he would start a revolt (like the ones that happened before and after) and killed him to stop his followers from uprising.
