For a scientific answer: According to a book about dream science, so far only mammals are thought to dream. Due to association of dream with Rapid Eye Movements (REM) during sleep, it is found out that dogs and cats experience REM periods during their sleep too. So it is assumed that animals dream as well. As for the content, its almost impossible to find out.

Yes they do. In fact, many dogs twitch their legs while they are asleep. This is a definite sign of a dog dreaming.

Yes, I have to laugh at my dog when she dreams, it's really the only time she barks.

And it's really funny whenever she tries to run in her dreams, she usually sleeps with her paws under the table, so her legs are always getting caught.

My great dane dreams (I'm guessing ) are of him chasing my cat.
He'll fall asleep and then all four paws will start moving as if he were running and then he gets to barking and growling. Just like he does when he's awake and chasing my cat.

I also have to be careful when walking near him when he is sleeping cause I never know when he is going to start moving his legs, He has tripped me a few times in the past.

I think so, my dogs (Scottish Terriers) both past & present dreamed all the time. We thought they were dreaming of chasing rabbits because they would do the running motions while sleeping.

My cat dreams as well, her lips (err, um, whiskers & area around it, whatever it is that cats have!) quiver and she looks like she's torturing some poor insect or rodent.

i observed that my domestic dog could have those "lively" targets if he wasnt exercised that day. I many times take him for an hour run plus some fetching and rolling on the grass. So i think of they dream of working with different canines or possibly chasing.

yeah, when the dogs go sleep, sometimes they bark, or they are running while they are laying down or they are whining. That means they are dreaming about that day what did they did and what they learned. Tthey are putting their memory in them. Its funny to watch the dogs go sleep while they dreaming and sometimes i yell at my dogs, go get it!

Oh yes! I have times when I'm hesitant to wake one because I'm afraid he's having a scary dream about me and won't be able to tell the difference! And my cats are crazy dreamers,,
