I think they are stereotyped as pushy, obnoxious, uptight conservatives. Unfortunate, really.

Your looking for stereotypes right? I have a few, and I used to be Christian (I am now Pagan) so I have heard a few stereotypes. Here they are(I do not mean to offend any one I am just answering the question honestly and intend NO harm to any1 person or groups of people):

Hypocritical Religious Fanatics.

They don't care about anything but their God and His Son.

Everyone else is condemned (expletive usually used) to hell; only those who follow our faith can go to Haven.

They love to ignore their own teachings when the situation suites them.

They do not care what science says, the only thing that is true historical and scientific facts are those in the Bible.

They cry about the end of the world at every great disaster.

and finally

The Earth is the only planet with life on it cause God only created one Earth, and the Earth is the center of the universe to them.

These are all the things I can remember ever hearing that are derogatory towards Christians. I do no personally hold any of these stereotypes towards all Christians, though the radicals certainly fit all the stereotypes I have given, but the radicals are but a small percentage of Christians.

so sad to see that most of these things that you ppl are saying are totally not true. We (Christians) are being blamed for things that in fact, the catholics, not the Christians did. We are not the same. Also, any who claim to be a true follower of Christ that does anything contrary to what Christ teaches, probably isn't really a Christian. Just because I call myself a musician doesn't mean I really know how to play an instrument or sing. God says that many will say, "Lord, Lord, didn't I do things in Your name. Didn't I cast out demons etc." and He will say, "depart from me you workers of iniquity, I do not know you." It takes a lot more than just saying you are a Christian to be one.

Oh and the KKK, sorry to burst any myths but they are so far from Christianity it is not even funny. That is like saying that Hitler was a Christian.

Of course those who don't want to follow after what God has to say will try and make it look foolish. It's a lot easier to knock it than to actually take a look at your sin.

We are interested in true science. Not the make believe fairy tale evolution in which there is not ONE SHRED of proof. Even many scientists are now facing the facts that all of this could not just "happen".

I really wish ppl would start learning things for themselves instead of listening to what everyone else has already decided. There is no one who has really started, with an open mind, to disprove God that hasn't come to know Him as the Creator and Savior. The bible is 100 percent true and has never been proven wrong. Never will...

k... thanks, I didn't want to answer the question, just wanted to comment on some of the comments. I'm sorry that ppl have misrepresented God, He is not at all anything like the stereotypes listed here, and neither are His true followers.

If you would like some cool facts on creation. www.drdino.com
Check it out, with an open mind... you'll be surprised at what you could learn...

There are so many types of christians we are a little hard to stereotype..

Only one I can really think of is Bible thumper.
Because the non-invasive Christians are practicly invisible to the world, only those that press their veiws on others are seen and are taken as the norm for the christian faith.

We also have been stereotyped as being anti-science, but I think most Christians long for knowledge and will embrace whatever is truth even if we do find out it took 23 seconds to make the earth instead of 7 days or whatever.

Christians burn people, they tie people to stakes and burn them alive. Christians torture people, they invented the rack as a device to tie people too and tear them apart while still alive.
Christians enslaved and murdered whole races of people.
Christians are Racist(View KKK), Chistians spread their religion by the sword and by fire(the crusades) Christians are at war with the muslim faith(again crusades, but also what is going on now and the fact that the catholic church declared war on the muslims centuries ago and never rescinded the order)
the list of historical points goes on and on.

These statements have all been true at one time or another. The inquisition being only the most pronounced period for the burnings and tortures, the murdering of peoples is still going on , sporadically in different parts of the world, the largest recent out break being in Bosnia, But also happening on a smaller scale in Lebanon with the Phalangists and these are once again all historical facts. enjoy

I can give you some I have heard on here.

- Christianity (really more of the Bible itself) "blinds" us to reality.

- We judge people

- We push our religon on people

- We are the reason there is war

- We are killing "mother earth"

- That we are too "black and white"

- We tell "good" people they are going to hell when thats supposidly "not our place"

Basically we are blamed for everything under the sun, but that's ok cause I believe in a truth and it doesn't matter what people say. I have more if you like. Just so you know I'm Christian and none of these are true.

I think the worst qualities some Christians have is being judgmental, hypocritical, narrow minded ignoramuses who are mistrustful of knowledge and wish everybody else would just go to hell.
I'm certainly not saying all Christians are like this. But there are definitely more than enough out there who are.

Christianity is the religion wherein the followers believe in the teachings of Jesus Christ. That Jesus was the son of God the Father who came to earth as a man to show that salvation is only achieved by being good.

Just because someoone labels themselves "Christian", doesn't mean they are one. God says to beware of wolves in sheep's clothing. Some people think the actions of these 'wolves in sheep's clothing' represent Christianity. For instance, the televangelists you see on TV, all they do is beg for money, and promsie you sugar-coated miracles from God if you donate all your money to THEIR organization or church. This isn't spreading the gosphel, or feeding Christ's sheep like God commands. It's ripping people off. They try to put a price tag on God's miracles, blessings, and salvation as if they can be bought with money. Never once do you see them crack the Bible open to teach anything.

Ok, how about were always preaching to people.
We can't answer a question without putting God into it.
We always have a Bible handy.
As part of our schooling to be a preacher, some religions, you'll find standing at red lights yelling out scriptures at the top of their lungs (now thats annoying)
We always think OUR religion is the only right religion.
