Erosion of top soil and loss of arable land. Almost any other problem has some straightforward mitigation even if we screw it up - industrialized nations can deal with global warming's effects, we can make fresh water if we spoil that, we're cleaning up the air already and there don't seem to be any new air pollutants coming, we just need to clean up the old ones.
However, any solution for the loss of top soil is amazingly expensive. Can you imagine dredging the mouth of the Mississippi river to put Nebraska back where it belongs?
As the world nears peak population here, we're going to have to figure out how to hang onto our top soil and arable land.

I think it is simply HUMANS period. Everything we do virtually puts the Earth at risk. No one is concerned about what happens to it in the future, as long as they are happy in the present.
But the MOST damaging thing people do to the environment has got to be pollution. Everywhere I go, I see dumptrucks spurting out dark clouds of filth. Building, growth, urbanization kills the atmosphere at the top of the list.
A truely sad thought.
What can we do to fix it? Hmm....try to educate people about the problems, but I seriously doubt anyone will give a hoot. Have they yet??

Poverty
Most of the largest environmental problems stem from poverty. Responsible environmental stewardship is purely the realm of affluent developed countries. If your populace is struggling to put food on the table, they don't spend much time worrying about the amount of forest they cut down for lumber sales and agricultre, the amount of land they denude for mineal wealth, etc...
Its no concidence that the worlds most polluted places are also its poorest.

Lol, no global warming. Argon is inert it does nothing to the environment. Human farts are the most dangerous, so they should invent a tampon for that.
