The problem is that people are seeking to establish earthly peace by earthly means. Jesus didn't come to bring about a system rooted in this world. He didn't come to use mankind's ways to change an earthly system but to use God's ways and establish an eternal kingdom. I wrote a blog entry a couple of days ago at the link below, if you'd like to check it out.

the middle east is where all (well almost all) religion sprouted... israel became the focal point because it being the birthplace of christ. for thousand of years, even during biblical times, israel were at war with it's surrounding neighbors (even during moses time). you already answered your query as to why peace can never be attained in that region, muhammad and christ. the two figures of different religion which has been at odds even during biblical times.... with these known, do you think peace would
work there?

and to the fella above me (2 steps ahead), israel was born even before jesus was... remember the ten commandments? moses led the israelites to flee egypt and proceed to israel.....

Israel and the surrounding region was fairly peaceful under the rule of Rome, then Constantinople. It was predominantly Christian and and the lingua franca was Greek for hundreds of years. Then in the 7th century, followers of Mohammed (just a couple years after his death) went batshit crazy and tried to conquer the world. This lead to something called "Arabization." True "Arabs" come from Arabia... Saudi Arabia as we know it today. They slaughtered and assimilated a widely diverse range of people from Morocco to Iraq... and then told them they were all Arab, all from the same people, all followers of Islam, and all speakers of the holy language (Arabic). As far as I know, no people on any significant scale ever accepted Islam except by force and bloodshed.

Of course, the same can be claimed about Christianity. Of Abrahamic religions, the Jews are the only ones who never tried to Jewify the world.

Israel's history during biblical times were mostly of war and general unrest. Satan doesn't want mankind at peace with itself, so he stirs up controversy and temps man to act without thinking rationally.

Because they are receiving the curse due to their rejection of the Messiah Christ Jesus. Christ is the antitype of the sacrifices that they do to take away sin,John the Baptist said "Behold the Lamb of God who taketh away the sin of the world" But they reject Him so that is why. And Paul said that the real Jew is the one inwardly and not outwardly,so those that keeps the commandments of God and have the faith of Jesus are the real Jews.

Unfortunately, the fact that Jesus, the Christ, was born in the middle east (Bethlehem, if we want to be technical; I get your point though) is completely unrelated to the fact that there is no peace there.

In fact, in Luke 12, we see that Christ did not come to bring peace:

51Do you think I came to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but division. 52From now on there will be five in one family divided against each other, three against two and two against three. 53They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law."

So we see that Jesus' mission was not about peace and therefore we can extrapolate that the fact that he was born there also has no bearing on the peace in the Middle East.

We can, however, find peace in our own lives with Jesus. Peace does not mean there is no conflict; it simply means that we can rest in the knowledge that God is in control.

the story isn't finished yet.
the test for people was all groups were given the same information, and they still can't get that concept - much less agree within their own groups as to what the Words say.
God tried - people have in the past and continue in the present to blow it.

It's because all the religions are too damned self-righteous to learn how to share.
