Gastric bypass surgery is not as easy as it sounds. The surgery has a 1 to 2 percent mortality rate. And after the surgery, what you eat is extremely limited. You have to have a lot of discipline to maintain good health after GBS. If you've got that, just stick to a good diet without the surgery. Additionally, many people gain back the weight they lose with GBS. Yes, it is possible, once that thumb-sized gastric pouch stretches out.
In liposuction, fat cells are permanently removed. (With weight loss achieved in any other manner, fat cells merely become larger or smaller, but do not go away.). Therefore, changes achieved with liposuction are long-lasting. But if you are very overweight or have fat deposits in many areas, you will find liposuction is not the answer. The amount of fat you can have removed at one time is limited to prevent loss of blood, and I know of no one who was seriously overweight and solved the problem with liposuction. The procedure is more for "sculpting" certain areas where there are disproportionate fat deposits. I am obese and just had liposuction on my chin. I am still obese, but I now have a jawline and my face and neck look much better.

The two operations are not comparable. A gastric bypass is only used in cases where the patient is clinically obese and needs to lose large amounts of body weight from all over. Liposuction removes small fatty deposits from localized areas, and is not a substitute for diet or a gastric bypass. HTH.

They are totally different.
In Liposuction, the doctor basically vacuums out your fat. You wake up with no more fat. However you will now gain weight in other places which might be even worse looking than where the fat was sucked from and eventually new fat cells will grow back.
Gastric Bypass is surgery to reduce the size of your stomach and re-route your intestines to make you physically unable to eat a lot of food and to make that food not stay in your digestive track very long. This makes you lose weight simply because you are down to a cup of food a day and you gain almost no nutrients from it. In 18-24 months you lose over 100 lbs but after that, you stop losing and it is very possible you can start gaining again.
Absolutely NOTHING is fool-proof and nothing guarantees you will stay slim forever.
