(Indians) and other native Americans? By bringing up issues from the past, also they are trying to drive a wedge between Black Americans and the rest of the Americans by bringing up slavery. They are grasping at straws. We are the "UNITED" States of America, we stay "united". This is an issue of illegal entry, it is against the law.

Yes..I have noticed too. I answered a question not to long ago where the person asked why she has to pay reparations to "Indians" and also asked why they (the "Indians") aren't assimilating. I have seen posters try to draw similarities between the struggles blacks had in our country and the struggles an illegal faces by nature of his/her crimes. You are right..they are grasping at straws.

I try to make no comparrison between illegal immigration and native americans. Maybe sometimes things get compared to ,but I really don't think they have much in common. And I am pro-illegal. Things from our past are great references to the future, but not with the same circumstances.I mean, yeah, white people did take this land from the indians. They were here first. If I was ya'll I'd be comparing that a totally different way than us pro-illegals.You could say that now illegals are like the whites before. They are trying to take land away from us americans.Kinda reverse it around. So,we aren't the only ones who can use that route,anti-illegals can too.

As far as white america/black america, well, there will always be pain from slavery. But I haven't seen many on here bring it up with illegals. In comparison,I mean. I did one time ,but I was referring to the way some people here talk so hateful about mexicans. Not illegals, only mexicans.I brought up slavery in reference to how blacks were treated then and how mexicans are treated now.No matter where a spanish person goes or who they are , they are thought of by many as illegal mexicans.Same for black people over a hundred yrs ago,a free man couldn't walk down a street because many whites would think him a slave.Atleast not in north carolina(where I'm from).I know there is NO actual comparison between slavery and illegal immigration,it's like comparing an orange to a banana.I was just comparing the thoughts people had.

So,anyway,if you are talking about me,then thats what I'm guilty of.

I don't understand the question. The only Native Americans are the Native Americans. My people are native to Ireland. All I ever say is that we are ALL illegal aliens except for the Native Americans.

For natives illegal immigration connotes a threat to traditional culture as well as having societal and real costs that exceed the possible benefits.

Hmm guess Columbus was an illegal immigrant. And how is anyone noticing the slaughter of Native Americans a bad thing? They were murdered and raped and forcibly moved from their homes from invaders. They were forced onto reservations and cultures were destroyed. By ignoring the past we are doomed to repeat it. That issue is not something to ever be forgotten or trivialized. I can't understand why anyone would just call it " issues from the past". I'd be damn pissed my people were hurt so badly. In Ireland my people we're murdered and raped and we're forced from there homes by the English. And I'm pissed for my people. America is a country founded on murder and invasion. We STOLE land from the Mexicans to make Texas. So we deny the poor the right to come to a place where they might have a chance to be free and prosperous? Are we so selfish with our freedoms? We have so much yet we deny these things to others? If they came here with thousands of dollars they would not be denied entry, I'm sure. American was FOUNDED on sneaking into a place and destroying the natives. The people who come here today mean us no harm. They simply want to taste what we have the priviledge of being born with. Are we so selfish we would deny them that? America did the same thing to the Natives that Hitler did to the Jews. Ever hear of the trail of tears? It was a death march. How many died in "reservations"? Before you judge people and tell then NO. Remember what the United States of American was truly founded on.

It is a moot issue to claim one can "drive a wedge" between a people who are already alientated from the rest of "America" and them. What have YOU done for First People lately?
The treatment of African Americans is still an unresolved issue. Not only slavery, but the continued denial of voting rights, the separate but certainly NOT equal facilities, and other aspects of discrimination, oppression based on race, class, party are still issues which need to be resolved. Certainly, I agree with you that entry without proper documentation and permission is illegal. However, the problem is much more complex than you imply. Don't forget to mention the many employers, many of whom support the Republican Party or the so-called Conservative factions. The spirit of the law in America has diverged from the letter of law in the United States. NAFTA AND the Central American Free Trade Act are destroying agricultural systems south of the border and forcing people off the land, so that they very naturally seek better jobs in the USA. While I support the enforcement of existing immigration laws, I also suggest to you we amend both immigration procedures and immigration law, so that those seeking entry to the US may be better motivated to do so legally, and that better security measures are actually workable.

I see your point ... but what worries me is the NAFTA + agreement ... NAFTA in itself as people know it was bad enough, NAFTA + is what they call the not so widely discussed agreement for free flow of PEOPLE, goods and services ... in Europe today, a Spaniard can go to let's say Germany without passport, without any papers other than a valid photo ID,and settle down and work absolutely legally ... one of the reasons why so many East European poor countries were clamoring to get into the EU ...

If the NAFTA + plan comes to full fruition here, there won't BE any illegal immigration ... if you're from Mexico or Canada, you'll be here LEGALLY under that agreement ... the downside is that we will be swamped by "illegal" immigrants, the upside is that we can all go to Canada... hence my question of the other day ... obviously the Bush administration does not want to spend any money on walls etc. which will have to be dismantled in a few years ... does anybody actually KNOW about this? Have read lots about it, and get depressed every time ...

This is one thing I would dearly want to be proven wrong on ... if anybody has any sources that can tell me this will NOT be the case, could you let me know?

You're right, they are grasping at straws. I'm not sure that "drive a wedge" is the right term for what they are trying to do. Trying to gather support from places that they will NEVER get it is a better term. I don't know what makes some of them think they will ever get support from Natives, considering that they (Mexicans) are the biggest racists towards Natives (That i've ever met, at least). It's also my understanding that many Afro-Americans also aren't very pro-illegal Mexican alien. They probably have to deal with racism from Mexicans too.

I don't understand the desperate attempts though. They don't need them. All they need to do is sit back and watch our near worthless government leaders once again screw over the American people with greed, politics, and general laziness.

it certainly LOOKS like they are 'trying' to do as someone else said "divide and conquer", but Americans are Americans no matter what their race or 'color'. They will not be divided by such ignorant tactics.

That poster above has 'GOT' to be pro-illegal, why else would anyone spout such vile things about someone just for asking a question. That is the one who has not got the guts to stay 'one person', it has to pose as everyone else, and the lanquage and mentality only cements the fact that "it" is losing the argument against illegal immigration,is jealous of Americans loyalty to our country and each other and envious of the fact we OWN their fictitious 'aztlan'. It is probably spitting green pea soup and spinning--devil possessed and green with envy.

Ya I noticed this lame and immature attempt to conquer and divide. It angers me sometimes but mostly just makes me laugh. I wonder if they have noticed that their feeble attempts are making us stronger and fueling our fire, it sure hasn't turned us non-suppoters against eachother. I wonder often why these illegal supporters don't get that us Natives and the Blacks are legal American citizens who support and respect the red white and blue and that the crap we all went through to receive this legal staus doesn't matter. So the Blacks were inslaved and the Natives were conquered. It was our respect for the power of the American way and our respect for the Laws they established that showed us the way to survive and thrive in the country they established. That respect was passed down through the generations, and so it's not perfect, it is however what we must respect, be loyal to and live according to if we wish to survive and live happily without threat. This is OUR country, our land, regardless of what we went through or who did what to who. The American way WON, damn it and that is where our loyalty should remain. Let them play their fool hearted, uneducated, childish games.
WE ARE AMERICA......THESE UNITED STATES........LEGAL CITIZENS......SMART, UNSELFISH, SURVIVORS WHO PROUDLY WAVE THE GREAT AMERICAN FLAG. Backing down, conceding, surrendering or whatever you want to call it doesn't make us loosers and sure as hell doesn't make us Un-American. I am Native forever and American always.

Yes, and also trying to drive a wedge between us and Legal immigrants...as if we are against all immigration. The pro-illegals refuse to acknowledge the part that is objectionable..."Illegal"

Yes, I have noticed that and so has Renegade. They commonly make up things that they believe to be factual and mostly just spew ignorance and things that are not true. One from the idiot club said that Natives get reparations. When did this occur and why isn't my husband receiving a check? See what I mean? It's made up b.s. with them. They will say or do anything to justify their criminal actions, including disrespect the most honorable and proud people who are truly indigenous to this land.
