If it is naturally blond I would use the darkening so all the brown doesn't get stripped out!!

I must tell you that it's really hard to keep your hair from fading. Generally, no shampoo or conditioner can keep the color alive. The sun, water and natural elements just take their toll naturally. The best thing to do is use a good brand of shampoo and conditioner for color treated hair and then stay out of the sun. You don't have to spend alot! "Tresseme" is a good brand, (it used to be a professional line). The money for the hairdresser comes from you needing a touch-up every month. Consider yourself in the realm of having to maintain your hair color once a month or so and you will look great!

If you would like warm, golden tones in your hi-lites, use the shampoo for brunettes. If you'd like your hi-lites to brighten up your look, use the one for blondes. I am also blonde, medium ash, and like to put beige and a touch of gold to brighten up my normally 'mousey' color. The color usually lightens up a little within a week. I use a shine shampoo and am happy with the results. Just a bit of advice... let a professional color your hair. It's worth the money!

use the shampoo for colored hair. not the shampoo for light/dark hair or whatever. that stuff assumes your color is natural. dyed hair is a totally different beast.

If your hair has more brown, use the special products for brown hair. If it is more blonde, use the products for blonde.
