Can anyone tell me what person this refers to? I saw this posted from another user, and I'm interested to know more if anyone recognizes the description.
"I agree 100% If we cant be on the religious agenda then I say they need to go back in time and realize who was here b4 Jesus!! She was a beautiful woman who never hurt anyone onless they hurt her
Source(s):
saw it on TV read it in books she was the first the last the everything"
*******
Btw...
I realize this quote mentions Jesus, so let me just say that no offense is intended, and I am just curious to know more about the woman mentioned.

Person that posted was more specifically Wiccan, if that helps or is applicable.

I know it's vague, but I thought I'd try. The person that wrote this couldn't remember the name. Appreciate the answers!

Who was here before Jesus? If she was referring to a female deity, there were plenty of them in all different cultures. I am mostly familiar with Celtic cultures and the all of the Celts did not have the same Celtic goddess. Beauty is common in female deities just as male deities are generally attractive. As far as never hurting anyone unless they hurt her, this narrows it down even more. The Celts had warrior goddesses and some were bloodthirsty. Healing wells were also sites where religious folks petitioned their deities to curse. In the time period before the common era, many deities of both genders were thought to have the capability of destruction and most were feared and placated.
I can only say that I have never heard of this type of deity in the gods that the Celts worshiped. But I don't know much about other cultures so she may have existed somewhere else. Still sounds fishy though since in the time period before the common era pacifism would have been very rare if it existed.

The only entity that I can think of is Gaea, The Holy Mother (this term was used before the birth of Christ so I do not intend to offend anyone), The Oldest One, and Mother Of All Gods. I only know the Geek name so that is why I am only giving one name; the other names are titles Gaea is also known by, and I cannot see Gaea being part of some religious agenda it dose not make any sense theologically. On top of that she is also one of the most powerful deities in the Greek pantheon; it was said (and this is just an ancient quote) that "All men (more aptly mortals meaning men and women both) bowed before the gods, the gods obeyed Zeus' orders, but even Zeus king of the gods swore allegience to and took oaths under the name and with the blessing of Gaea."
I cannot see why some one would say this about Gaea; yes, she is powerful, but I cannot see My Lady condonint such arrogence. Fyi, Gaea is the grandmother of Zeus and the Earth itself, hence her name was used in that old cartoon Captin Planet.
Hope this helps.
Blessed Be.

I read (and practiced) alot of poly-theist religions be for I became a freethinker.
The person that made that statement is most likely a neo-pagan and a birthright pagan to boot. A birthright pagan is kind of like a Christian fundamentalist. They think they are born into their religion because their great, great, great, grandmother was a witch. When asked for proof of their heritage they seldom have any. Most other pagans don't even like birthright pagans(I know I never did.). It is why I think they are mostly solitary practitioners.
With that being said, she is probly referring to any number of female Deity. And most likely without the duality of her masculine counter part. It seems to me that every one of these "clicks" give a different name to the goddess. I have a book on it at home if you would like a few names to associate with the goddess.

In all honesty, I don't have a clue. I suspect it's either the Goddess or it could be one of many female mythical heroes that are quite prevalent all over the world. It's sad to see the pompus attitude taken by the speaker.
PS: No offense taken ^.^ . Jesus is in my pantheon .

Without more context I have no idea what that could be referring to. Sounds suspiciously like one of those pop-Pagans who think that their religion is about bashing Jesus and being justified because "we were here first." (which is frequently an erroneous claim to boot)
