I don't know about anyone else, but I've been noticing this more and more: totally straight girls seem to think it's perfectly okay and normal to make out with each other. On tv, even in pictures on myspace, girls are kissing each other. I'm a straight female and I think it would be very strange to do this to another girl. That's the whole point of being straight. I'm so sick of seeing this. I KNOW straight guys don't do this! Why is it considered so normal??

janmarbol-I thought I made this clear, but I guess not. I am in no way insulting homosexuals. I'm fine with them. What I'm saying is that if you are STRAIGHT, be STRAIGHT, if you are GAY, be GAY. Get it?

There seems to be a different standard for girls then for guys. Not expressing an opinion as to whether it is right or wrong; just making an observation at this point. I can honestly say if a guy tried to kiss another guy, I would never look at him as straight. However, bisexual behavior seems to be more acceptable for women, because most women don't look at homosexuality the way most men do. Most straight women I've talked to say if another woman hit on them, they would say they were flattered but uninterested. Ask a man the same question, & there would be no flattery felt at all. In fact, the thought often brings to mind notions of physical violence in most of us straight men. I think women have known bisexual behavior isn't stigmatized as much when it involves them, & many have taken advantage of it. Plus, they realize it is another way to tease men, because our ultimate fantasy is to be with more than one woman at once. No secret there. However, why women label this behavior as bi-curious is beyond me? If you're going to be bisexual, be bisexual. I know girls who have let other girls fondle & suckle their breasts & even perform oral sex on them, but they say they are straight. Right, & I'm an astronaut. Anyway, I believe this is considered normal by a lot of the population because a man is never going to stifle a woman from an activity which could land him a threesome, & most women aren't going to violently lash out at one another for doing things to one another they have probably done since slumber party experimentation.

It's this recent cultural phenomenon. It is kind of peculiar. I think some girls do it because many guys consider it sexy and they want to be sexy. Maybe some girls do it because it's a way to satisfy sexual urges without any threat of someone trying to get in your pants. Some might say it's because most people harbor some homosexual tendencies and since it's become acceptable and "sexy" for women to make out (although mostly only when drinking), they can express this tendency and not have to identify themselves as gay and face ridicule for it.

Some girls do it for attention, some are just curious, and some are just doing it for the fun of it! As for me, I'm straight, and I think it's perfectly fine for other straight girls to make out. I would do it.

i completellly agree. in my group of friends this type of thing is done regularly by both sexes. for example, two of the girls in the group decided to pretend theyre lesbians and get "married". they are my close friends and I know they are kidding but yes it does get a little strange and montonous. however they dont make out or kiss just hold hands, put there arms around eachother & sit on eachothers laps...same with the guys...I am begining to think something is off with them....one of my guy friends actually admitted to kissing another guy on the lips and it was a bit shocking...

As a man, I don't like to see that kind of unnatural behavior either. I don't find it a turn on, but a turn off. Most guys I know don't like it either. In fact it is a waste of a woman, who could instead be kissing another man. We are not in shortage you know!

it's erotic to men seeing this, so it's all over to attract men.. anyway, you should be a bit more accepting to homosexuality, they are people too... and they don't hurt anyone; it's a matter of different strokes for different folks.
