I particularly enjoy that you write that "you don't remember how the story goes."
And that's what it is? Isn't it? It's a story.
I think people have become more and more cynical about religion as they have begun to reason on a much higher level. Education is getting better every day, and people are much smarter (and less apt to be scared into believing something) than they used to be.
Let's look at it from a realistic perspective.
Let's suppose you're a christian. The bible teaches that everyone who is not a christian needs to be converted to christianity, or they will not be saved in the end times. If God loves man as the bible teaches, do you really think that he would ostracize more than half the earth's population?
As for God's signs, we see a trend in the bible as well--there are less and less of them! In the old testament, there are plagues and locusts and floods, entire cities destroyed seemingly without cause. In the new testament, such "stories" are largely missing. And today? Well... when was the last time you heard of a locust or honest to god plague?
The best way to understand whats happening to religion is to look at less advanced cultures, like in Africa for example. Their religion largely offers explainations--why things happen as they do. This is very similar to older western religions, like the greeks. So it seems pretty reasonable that christianity and other modern religions do the same: most of the stories are explaining why things happened, to people who were confused and did not understand. Today we know about the cause of earthquakes, the germ cause of diseases, and all manner of medical and chemical interactions that can mimick what woud have surely seemed like "mircales" then.
So, in conclusion, its not that people are losing their FAITH, they are losing their RELIGION. People need something to believe in, but it is less and less these 2,000+ year old stories which try, to the best of the writers ability, to make sense of largely natural events. We can do so much better now and understand our world to an unprecedented degree. With the advent of the scientific method, the "explaination" function of religion is largely defunct. The focus has shifted to spirituality in general (i.e. hope, morals, etc.) and we have found that there is not ONE solution to this.
It is naive and selfish to think that an all-powerful god bestowed absolute truth on one person. The simple fact that so many radically different religions exist is pretty decent proof that all of our current religions are a) false or b) simply wrong.

Are you kidding? Have you watched the news lately? Religion is very popular. It is ruining humanity. As for global warming, floods, tsunamis, that is the work of ignorant consumers and greedy corporations. Oh and the christians peoples choice (Bush) doesn't acknowledge environmental issues. The US contains only 4% of the worlds population but yet contributes 25% of all carbon dioxide emissions. People don't care about the environment because their magic god that they read about will save them.

U should read ur Bible. Then u would ALREADY have the answers to your questions. God isn't closing shop on us. God doesn't cause the bad weather. Intead, he using it to get your attention. U may either ignore his attempts of drawing you to him. Or except the teachings in the Bible. Such as, excepting him as your lord and savior. Should you ignore this point. It is you that is speaking out against the Bible. Because it is ur life, that will be lost. Upon ur last breath. Do as you wish.. Ignore the one who loves you. Or lose your life. Or make a change now, and gain a new life, after you have lived this one out.
FOR God so loved the world., that he gave his only son. WOULD U GIVE YOUR ONLY SON?

Q1: Do you sense upset with the belief of worshiping an invisible god? A1: i could sense particularly silly if I did that. Q2: If sure why? A2: there is no longer something to point that any gods have ever existed at any component in time. Q3: Do you sense like god does not care approximately you? A3: See A2 above. this fall: And do you think of that faster or later faith would be deserted as a lost reason? A4: finally everyone would be knowledgeable particularly than indoctrinated I could desire to think of. Q5: ok,yet do you all comprehend the message interior the bible? A5: sure I do. You do understand that Christianity is a completely undemocratic political administration equipment in line with a conglomeration of historic myths chosen to deliver order to the 4thC Roman Empire and that no God or Jesus have ever existed don`t you? it is unpopular because of the fact human beings can see it for the scam that it is.

Well the bible says a majority of the world has always turned thier back on God. I do have to agree that things do seem a lot worse now than ever before. I can only go off of what people older than myself tell me and what I have observed through recorded history though. I dont really have to worry about it though because I am saved.

Religion will grow increasingly unpopular.Yes, people are becoming more and more like what the bible describes in 2 Tim. 3:1-5 -" But know this, that in the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here. For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, self-assuming, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal, having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, without love of goodness, betrayers, headstrong, puffed up [with pride], lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God, having a form of godly devotion but proving false to its power; and from these turn away. " The natural disasters are a sign that the end is near brought out in Matthew 24 but God isn't using these things as a form of punishment if that is what you are asking.

I don't know but Jesus said "you know not the day nor the hour," or something like that, so I don't worry about it. My job and your job is to bring people to God, not worry about when the Earth is going to blow up. Seriously, who cares. You can't really stop it. God could make a comet destroy Earth this very minute as I am typing this, but I do not care because it is not my job to care about it.
To answer your question, yes I think lots of people are turning their backs on God. I am not a hypocrite. I will admit that I have turned my back on God, but eventually I come back to Him. It's all about Hope and not despair. Too many people despair. If you are "only human," then that is a bad excuse. To be truly human means to hold your self to a higher standard. You are created in the image and likeness of God, and are entitled to human dignity, so don't lose it.

Religion is very popular in the Mid-East. The Christians invade Moslems nations. The Jews hate the Moslems. The Moslems hate the Hindus. Most religious people were brainwashed as small children to believe in it. They are intolerant of anyone who disagrees, and will kill for "their religion." There are approximately 10,000 different religions in the world. They all think they are right and know the "truth."

It is because some basterds have interpreted religion differently for their foul means and misdirected people. Otherwise God is the only truth will always remain. Environmental changes, floods, etc just show us the stregth of God and its act of balancing the things.God is not closing up the shop for us, every new born child is the evidence of this.
