He sold only one painting during his lifetime (Red Vineyard at Arles; Pushkin Museum, Moscow), and was little known to the art world at the time of his death, but his fame grew rapidly thereafter. His influence on Expressionism, Fauvism and early abstraction was enormous, and it can be seen in many other aspects of 20th-century art. His stormy and dramatic life and his unswerving devotion to his ideals have made him one of the great cultural heroes of modern times, providing the most auspicious material for the 20th-century vogue in romanticized psychological biography.

Vincent's uncle bought a painting from him and that was the only known sales ever that he made. Those artpieces which he gave to Yves Tanguy as payments for his debts were not sales. Van Gogh may not have enjoyed some measure of fame and 'success' but his artworks outlived him and became the living proof of how great his art is.

convinced, it somewhat is the tale. it really is even in my artwork appreciation e book. If it had not got here about i don't have self belief they could have positioned it in there as actuality. Van Gogh reduce off area of his own ear. My question even if has always been "What did she do with it?" i imagine it may make a large action picture, this path of Van Gogh's ear because it is going from the prostitute to what?, the trash can, then who's conscious perhaps a vagabond digs it out of the trash even as searching for something to eat and later provides it to bartender for a pint of beer? Who is conscious? it somewhat is my conjecture. Then wager what? It finishes up on ebay all dried and shrunk. Visualize that! i'd favor to work out that artwork of artwork! the renowned day reliquary, treasure trove, EBay!
