You need to get a lawyer. Its usually very hard for a dad to get full custody unless you can prove that the mom is unfit.

I believe you are a good loving military father. I don't believe that you can get custody of your daughter, unless she is considered abandoned by her mother, without an attorney. If you truly want custody, get one, get a good one, and don't think twice about the money. Do you really want to be saying a few years from now, "Well, honey, I wanted you to live with me, but I didn't want to pay for an attorney."? Good Luck.

Unless the mother is abusing your daughter, allowing abuse, or using drugs in her presence, I'm afraid that even with a lawyer your likelihood of gaining custody of your daughter is slim. Not sure why but courts generally see mothers as a better custodian of the child, the above not withstanding. It could get really ugly. Make sure you have NOTHING in your past that could be brought up in court that would jeopardize your fitness.

The best way to that would be for you and the mother to compromise and be civilized for the childs sake. You may have to start out slowly by petioning the court to give you more visitation. Or you could start by filing for joint custody. Remember that it is the judges decision. Sometimes slow is better you have to start somewhere. After a course of time things may work to your advantage. Remember you are doing this for the best interest of your child and no other reason.

that might be hard. even though it is easier for a man to get back on his feet after a tought time, the judge looks for the best interest of the child. who is the child used to being with? who is the child home with more? you know, stuff like that. if you are with you daughter more and she is used to seeing you, it might be easier to gain custody if not, u might be better off hiring a lawyer. hope i helped some, best of luck!

If you are married you have to have an attorney to take care of everything. To have sole custody you need to either prove the mother unfit, have her give up her rights, or she could abandon the child. Alot of it really depends on what state you reside in and how much she wants to fight for the child... Good Luck !!

that would be impossible, unless your wife just decided to give up the child to you??? myself being a mom, I can't see that happening, especially since I grew up as a military brat and hated it

prove that you are the more fitting parent, it is, after all, about what is best for the children and ultimately what the judge will base his decision on
