Does anyone agree with me that an American (weither man or women) has the right to live in our free country and critisize those that are giving up there lives in order to defend our country? I strongly feel that if this is such an issue, why don't the people that seem to have the problem with it join some branch of the military. Those people are giving up there lives to fight for ours. I know for a fact that my husband would rather be home with me and our two boys, but he made a decision to fight for our country. IM A PROUD NAVY WIFE.....and not just of the Navy, of all branches of the military. Thank you to those of you who support enlisted family and friends!

I agree with those of you that support the troops but DO NOT support the president.

Why don't all of you take a look at all the bullshit postings coming from 'erudite' and maybe then you will understand where my anger is coming from.

I thank your husband for his service.

Please be assured that when the war is criticized, it's not the troops that are being criticized. I support the troops; I just don't want them in harm's way fighting in an unnecessary war.

I'm also a Navy wife and I also don't like people running down the Armed Forces, but I remind myself that Americans right to speak out freely about our Government and Military is because people like my husband chose to defend our country and our rights, and like it or not, one of those rights is the freedom of speech!
Concentrate on those that do support our troops. There are a lot out there that don't support the war, but still have the up-most respect for our Military men and women. Don't allow yourself to take it to personal when someone says something stupid and ignorant about the Armed Forces. My husband told me one time that if he had a dime for every-time he came across someone that made some mean comment about the Military, he would be rich! He went in right out of high school at 18, and has served for twenty years, so I'm sure he has heard it all.
Continue your support for your husband and all the rest of the Military. I think they need our support more now then ever.

There needs to be some clarification and I hope that I'm not in the minority on this. I am against this war but in no way does that mean that I am critical of our soldiers who are risking their lives. My daughter lost a good friend in Iraq.

I appreciate anyone who has the courage and conviction to volunteer to protect our country and serve in the military. Since our political leaders have gotten us into this current mess I would hope that they would provide funding for the the best available equipment for our soldiers. I think that military families should be given the benefits they deserve for the sacrifices that they make.

I apologize if criticism of the government seems like criticism of the soldiers. My husband has been working out of town for a few months. Whenever I feel sorry for myself I have only to think of what your family and so many like you must be dealing with. I pray for the safety of your husband and his comrades and hope that they can all be home soon.

You should be a proud Navy wife! Your husband is just doing his job, and we all appreciate that! I am one of the American Citizens that support our troops, and love this country, but feel that our president had no right to send these fine young men and women in harm's way for no justifiable reason. May all the rest of our soldiers come home safely despite our commander in chief. Bless you and your family!

I do not support the governments policy re Iraq.
But I do support troops...
and yes this is possible.....
I want troops to have whatever equipment and Armour they need to get their butts back to the U.S alive.
I want the Iraqis to get trained to assume THEIR duties and I can't understand what is taking so damn long since just about every male in Mideast seems to be pretty handy with weapons.

And I want the troops coming back and are injured to be able to get the care they need without having to fight for it year after year. And that is when the support the troops slogan will be put to the test.

I would be seriously disturbed if everybody in America was in lockstep behind the governments Iraqi policy. Then we would resemble North Koreans. Or the Chinese under MAO TSE TUNG.

I got ten years USCG

Do you honestly think that criticizing the the reason why we are in the middle east is in any way linked to criticizing the soldiers that are serving? I myself served, and share with 90% of my colleagues the view that the war in the Middle East is wrong. We all knew it, but we had no choice. We served for each other, not for the government that sent us there. We knew we were doing nothing worthwhile, and that the Iraqis did not want us there. We fought because we wanted to survive. We fought because the alternative was prison. We fought because we knew our friends would die if we didn't.....we didn't fight so Bush could get his hands on OIL. We knew people were protesting back home to get us out, and we prayed that exactly that would happen. Having pride in the soldiers that serve your country does not mean you have to believe in the cause, especially one as transparently wrong as ours. I wished that people had protested just a little harder.... maybe my friends wouldn't be dead now.

Amen to that. Thank you for your husband's service and your family who has to endure lengthy time apart. Although I am not military, I live in a Navy town. I have a great respect for those in active combat or on the homefront protecting the life of my family. So kudos to you. I am proud supporter of the Unites States Military and our alies. I also support our President 100%!

If defense if going on military adventures to defend corporate interests, then I'm going to have to say I'm against it. Defense from invading militaries should be the only purpose of the our military. We spend far too much maintaining the war machine going when we could be doing something productive with our taxpayer dollars.

Your question started out as a question and wound up being a statement. Yes people have the right to criticize, but no one is criticizing people who are just doing a job, rather their opinions are meant for the people telling them to do it. People are not happy with the leaders, not the people in uniform.

It's quite possible to still support your country's troops AND think George Bush is a complete joke and his "wars" are disgusting crimes against humanity. That's quite reasonable.
