Were just these bones placed into the earth as a warning about what could happen to those that didn't heed Gods word? Were they perhaps found by the early authors of the Bible and because of their horrndous look were called dragons (they rather do resemble what we have seen the ancients describe as dragons and a tyranasoraus Rex looks incredibly like the images we have seen in drawings as does a wing pteradactyal. We flocked to the movies to see Jurassic park and who will deny that these proofs showm through the work of considerably educated man do not ad up to proof that the earth is far older than the generations depicted of mankind in The Bible Quran or otherwise-Jesus never mentioned anything about these animals because he did not have this information available to him and yet he recognizes Dragons when he recognizes the old testament and revelations where in the end there is a 7 headed dragon that is the center of all evil-I am sorry but until some one can explain to me how Noah

The bible is a nice big story book in my opinion. I believe in evolution but I don't step on the toes of people who believe in God. But the bible may represent the bones as dragons just like the greeks mistook dinosaur bones for griffins and other mythological creatures. So I suppose the people who wrote into the bible probably thought the same way. But I'm a see and believe type of person and if there is a god or there was a Jesus why haven't they been seen. Why doesn't anything miraculous happen anymore? Why hasn't there been any more profits or anything like that? It's hard to believe in something that doesn't seem to have a presence. And the bible itself doesn't make sense with most of things in it. Why doesn't it mention caveman? It started with Adam and Eve fully developed humans not with neanderthal man. I don't know maybe I look to much into the bible but if there is a God I guess I'm going to pergatory for eternity(just how my luck goes).

The Bible is not an encyclopedia filled with all the information of the world, just certain points. But the Dinosaurs do have a location in the timeline of The Bible. 1st you must understand that the days mentioned in Genesis are not realy 24 hour days, but as long as God wants for. " But do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day." -2 Peter 3:8- In other words the Lord has all the time in the world to make the Earth and all that other good stuff in Genesis. (when Peter says 1000 years, he could have used any other number because 1000 is just an example to prove that God has the power of time) knowing this then it is easy to see where Dinosaurs fit into the Bible. between Genesis 1:1 and 1:2 there is where the Dinosaurs fit into. in 1:1 "...God created the heavens and the earth" and in 1:2 "the earth was formless and void..." Now all English versions say close to the same thing and by void they also mean Chaotic (look void up in a college dictionary). in Spanish version (reina valera) it states "la tierra estaba sin orden y vacia" translated into english means: without order and empty. now how can God (being perfect) can create something without order? well when he create it, it was perfect, but because of certain happenings the world became chaotic and thusly fell from grace. so the dinosaurs fall into the time between Genesis 1:1 And 1:2, but were destroyed for the new World that God creates in the nextt days.

Good question and a good thought. Maybe it will make some of those so called bible scholars wake up, but I do doubt it.

I do see what you see in that there is existing evidence that declares that the 7 twenty four hour days is not exactly right. Likewise those who do see that the animals were in existence [note: I did not use the word created] before humankind ought to also think and maybe reread their bible.

In my opinion I do study the bible and I do see that it agrees with the pure scientific findings perfectly. The 6 to 7 thousand year old earth, animals, and humankind is only a dream in the minds of bible scholars who do not know how to read the words written on the bible pages.

Do keep up the good questions and have a great day.

The Bible does not provide specific answers to this question.According to the Genesis account, animals were created during the fifth and sixth creative periods or "days"If the Hebrew expression translated "great sea monsters"[Hebrew tanninim] includes dinosaurs, which often inhabited swampy watery areas, this would mean that dinosaurs were created on the fifth "day"(Gen.1:21).
We do not know whether they continued to exist until man was created (toward the close of the sixth "day")At the very latest it seems they must have disappeared off the earth at the time of the flood of Noah's day
When dinosaurs had fulfilled their purpose,Jehovah ended their life. But the Bible is silent on how he did that or when.We can be sure that dinosaurs were created by Jehovah for a purpose, even if we do not fully understand that purpose at this time.

Because the Bible was written by people, not by god. Just like most of the land masses on earth aren't mentioned, because the authors had no knowledge of them. That doesn't mean North America doesn't actually exists. It just means that the Biblical authors were human and, thus, did not know everything. And even if the Bible was conveyed to the authors through some divine communication, I don't see why God would give them information that they would not be able to understand at the time they were writing.

Good question...

Dinosaurs are not mentioned in the Bible, for the same reason that the fourth dynasty (Egypt) is not mentioned in your Biology text book.

The purpose of the Bible is to give us history relevant to the question of how to live in relationship with the Christian God. Dinosaurs are not relevant to this purpose.

For a brief explanation of how to come into relationship with the God of the Universe, see http://www.godsci.org/gs/new/essence.html

Regarding the existence of Dinosaurs... my personal viewpoint...

They really did exist on earth ~220-65 million years ago.

I do not find this to be inconsistent with the Bible. I subscribe to old-earth step-wise creationism as the best fit to the evidence from Science and the Bible.

For more detail regarding Old Earth Creationism, see http://www.godsci.org/gs/crea/oec.html

Cordially,

According to many they are. They are referred to as a Behemoth meaning giant, kingly beast. (Or something very close to that) In Job ch 40 verses 15-20 and ch 41 1-34 a creature believed to be a dinosaur is described to Job by the Lord. There are also websites which give details about this for more available info if you don't have a bible to refer to.

I believe in the Gap Theory in Genesis. I think that the dinosaurs were part of whatever was going on before the Earth became a waste and a desolation.

Check it out if you have a Strong's Concordance. Those words could be translated that way just as easily as the traditional way.

Not without form, and void. Became a waste and a desolation.

The bible doesn't mention dinosaurs, but it does make reference to them. The word behmouth is thought to mean dinosaur. But like somebody else pointed out on here, butterflies are not mentioned in the bible, but that doesn't mean they don't exist. YOU aren't mentioned in the bible, does that mean YOU don't exist?

Besides that the bible was written AFTER the dino's had died. BEFORE known written history. so maybe the ppl back then didn't think to look in the dirt. And its not like they had dna tests or anything like that. so even if they found the bones how would they know they weren't just animals they hadn't heard of?

The bible does mention dinosaurs. But of course they weren't called dinosaurs. The word used in Aramaic is Tanniyan, which is usually translated as dragon but can also mean big reptile or sea monster.
