You can use bleach or Cholorox. Just make sure your cat doesn't lick it.

Try vinegar-- just be sure that it's safe for the surface you're cleaning. You can wash with vinegar or vinegar and water, rinse and dry well, then follow up with baking soda. Sprinkle the baking soda on the area, let sit overnight if possible, then clean or vacuum. You might need to do this drill several times.

Then have the cat neutered if it's a male and it hasn't been done yet. Also find out why the cat is urinating where it makes an odor that you have to remove... infection? behavior? But that's another topic for another time!

I get enzymes from the local janitorial supply, not the pet store. I've yet to find a home remedy that actually works. White vinegar is probably the closest thing I've found. The enzymes break down the protiens in the urine that cause the odor. It's actually worth the price you pay for it.

I had a tom that sprayed, had him fixed and it still didn't work..later I was told it was because he was too old by the time I had it done.Toms neutered before 6 months generally will not spray.

I spent a bundle on trying to resolve that problem myself and then picked up some little book that tells you how to clean anything at a garage sale for 5 cents. It said to blot up urine if spot is still wet, then make a strong vinigar and water solution and saturate urine spot.Let it sit and do its work then blot up again by stepping on spot with paper towel or rag. It has worked quite well for me.
