Of course you CAN, but whether you SHOULD really depends. The effects of most medicines are not tested on pregnant and nursing women so most just say effects unknown, use at your own risk (not those exact words, but same drift). My doctors always told me I had to use my own judgment and if you can stand it, do without the medicine. But if it is something that is affecting your ability to breathe or rest or be otherwise unhealthy, then taking the medicine which will help you is better than not getting oxygen (or whatever the problem may be).

The same rules apply for nursing as for pregnancy.
Children's medicine is best. Nothing stronger. This information was given to me by my doctor. Good luck.

when i breastfed all my four of my kids the doctor said the only medication i could take for a cold was robotussin. hope this helps.
