Because I'll tell you. God doesn't exist therefore it's not calling you to do anything or go anywhere.

I work for a campus ministry and I never in my life thought I would be working here. I worked the past 3 years at a medical collection agency and where I work now is the ministry I attended in college. I absolutely love my job! The need for people in campus ministry is huge. There are 18,000 students at the university where our ministry is and that is a lot of students to try and impact. The harvest is plenty, but the workers are few. The need is great, my friend. You really do need to be in prayer about this. It is a wonderful opportunity to reach out and impact the lives of young people, the future church leaders, etc. Our ministry is on a secular campus, so sometimes it's like hitting a brick wall, but God is faithful. Have you worked with youth in the past? Do you have a passion to work with them? Research the ministry and make sure it's Biblical and make sure what it's trying to do is something that you can get behind and support. Is it a place where people can dig deep and get below the surface to get to know God, or is it all about Sunday School answers and going through the motions? For me, the door was wide open, the answer couldn't have been any clearer. It was a step of faith because I left behind a well paying job, but I couldn't be happier. If you want to talk more feel free to e-mail me. God bless!

if you are Christian the answer is simple God is calling you to be a witness to your fellow students. for a Christian, life is ministry. not that you should take the "bible thumping" approach. to me this just turns more people away from God. Living an exemplory life is more of a witness than craming Bible versus down the throats of Unbelievers. live a life that will set a Godly example and ask God to give you opportunities to share your Faith. if you do so, others will see a diiference in you, and will be curious to what that difference might be... and remember that no man/woman comes to the Father unless directed by the Holy Spirit. many opportunities have been lost because of forceful evangelism...it is not right!by no means are you to be afraid to defend your Faith, , but defend it/share it when the opportunity is right (ripe)

Has He given you the gifts needed for that ministry? Have you prayed about it and you get a sense of peace about going ahead in that direction? Do you have a desire to serve in that capacity? Have you received any confirmation through circumstances or from other members of the body of Christ in regards to that decision?
Those are the general guidelines for determining if a course of action is in God's will for your life or not.

Pray and ask God for wisdom (James 1:5).
Seek the counsel of mature Christians who know you and your personality.
You could also contact Campus Crusade for Christ, or the Navigators, or Young Life and ask to speak with one or more of their staff members -- to see what college ministry is like.
And I would suggest that you volunteer with a campus ministry for a year or so (part-time) to see if you like the ministry.

I usually look for a couple of things when I am trying to determine the will of God for my life.
1. Confirmation in the Word. Has God given you a Scripture that is speaking to your heart about the ministry?
2. Confirmation from my wife? When God tells me to do something He typically tells my wife as well? (If you're not married ignore this one and sometimes God does tell me to do things that He does not speak to my wife about).
3. Peace. When God tells you to do something He will give you a peace about it.
4. Confirmation from leadership. Does your pastor recognize the call of God on your life.
5. Open doors. Often times when God wants us to walk in a certain direction He opens doors.
6. Still small voice. God will speak to your heart by His Spirit.
Any of these can be the way in which God chooses to speak to you and call you to ministry. The two I will not go forward without is condirmation in the Word and peace. When either of those is lacking I continue to seek God and His will. He wants you to know His will so He will reveal it to you in His time. For the majority of major decisions in my life God has given me all of them. For instance my wife and I moved from CA to ND to plant a church. That happened after years of prayer and God speaking to me in everyway I described above. May God bless you as you follow Him.

Oh wow, we just studied "callings" in church, and are contiuning to study them. From what i've learned, and from what I believe, if you hear the calling, and everything "falls into place" its of God. That doesn't mean there won't be bumps along the way. They may be God testing your integrity, but its most likely just life, and if you let it get in the way its your own fault.

Do you have a burden to reach college kids?
Do you pray about this?
Do you have a perception as to what others can believe?
Can you defend your faith?
The above questions can help you study in the direction of achieving your goal if you have a yearning.

I'll pass on some of the best advise I was ever given.
Love God, and do what ever you want.
And remember, God wants spiritual fruits, not religious nuts.
