tell them you can possibly borrow some money, that you have none, and what is the least amount you can pay back to settle the debt
Also sometimes telling them you are getting ready to file bankrupcy helps, or that you are unable to work.
See if you can also get them to remove it from your credit report. GET IT IN WRITING, and the persons name you speak with.
Do not pay till you get tit in writing.

Cut a deal with them and get it in writing before you give them anything. Regardless of what they say the reality is that they start by expecting nothing and go up from there. Don't let them set the price. Give them a take it or leave it and don't be afraid to just hang up the phone. If they are interested they will call back. The idea is to shift the position of power from them to you but to do it in a way that makes them feel as if they got the last penny out of you.

If your bill is turned over to a collection agency, don't pay them.
Send the payment directly to the company you owe.
Collectors are a pain in the *** with no control. They get to keep a percentage of the money they collect.
They will call and harrass you to death unless you tell them you are going to pay the co. and not them. They get soooo pissed off and try to threaten you. Don't buy into it.
But try to send payment to the co. you owe as quickly as you can.

hey as long as you are payin somethin each month it dont matter, i have tons and tons of medical bills and i only pay a max of $20 dollars on month to them
