You cant wake up a sleep walker, Ive tried, sometimes it just antagonozes them. And I have been hit at before.
Its like you become something in their dream. When they are sleep walking they can not understand you , and when they look at you its like they are looking through you, like you are not there.
The best thing is to get them back to there bed, redirect them.
And sometimes just talking to them quietly about regular evryday things ( like grocery shopping) can calm them down to the poin that thye lay back down and " go to sleep"

Actually the law says that we are not responsible for the first 40 seconds that we are awake because we are not fully awake.
I don't know about killing people but put yourself in the sleepwalkers shoes.
You are woken up from a deep sleep and don't know where you are or who you are with. The last time you seen things with your eyes, you were in your bed and probably alone.
The best thing to do with a sleepwalker is to try to quietly guide them back to their bed. Keep the front door and windows locked at night if you can and if the bedroom is upstairs then put a child/dog gate on the top of the staircase to prevent falling.

I have a cousin who used to be a sleepwalker. Her parents would find her running around the house screaming, things like that. They would just guide her back to bed and she never remembered a thing about it the next day. I don't think people who sleepwalk and are awakened would be any more violent than someone who was just asleep as was awakened.

I think they would do something drastic because it'd be frightening to think you are sleeping but then find yourself somewhere else. The best thing to do if someone is sleepwalking is to tell them to go back to bed. I gurantee that 90% of the time this works.

Untrue. They will simply be harder to awaken, as they are in stage four of sleep (Deep sleep).
If you're unsure about waking the person up, simply guide them back to their bed. You can inform them in the morning, but they will most likely not recall it at all. It tends to be genetic, but it usually only lasts during childhood and sometimes adolescence.

I've never heard of anyone getting so violent, but I know it can be a " rude awakening ". They just get confused, IF they wake up at all.

No no.... Sleep walking is caused by a process failure in the Deep Sleep Mechanism that paralyzes our muscles to protect us from acting out our dreams. Though, it may be difficult to awaken someone from deep sleep, and they may be disoriented from being awakened, I wouldn't fear death.

How they react depends on the individual, but it could cause them psychological damage, so don't attempt it.
