Not much could be done. But also you could bring it to the vet immediatley. If dogs are blind there was something wrong with it when it was born or there was something it it's eye that caused an infection to cause blindness. Sorry...

Hey,
you hvae nothing to worry about at all, if you feel you should have your dogs eyes checked out then you might as well just to be on the safe side. Dogs cope extremely well if they go blind, their other senses of smell, hearing and touch intensify and they live completely normal lives. Being blind wont effect your dogs quality of life either, they cope and just get on with life the same as they did before they went blind. You have nothing to worry about and you will still have the same dog, your dog will be no different and will act and behave the same as he always has.

I wonder with your question! In a small town near Cairo the modern lady folk address their husbands as "dog" (Khalab)! If you add it to goes blind, makes a lot of meaning! It is for men!

When it comes to four legged faithful animal you can very well donate it to SPCA people with some cash, they will use the cash to maintain it atleast for a week, I suppose, it is 50 - 50 every where, even while they share with the dogs.

Well vet is first thing to see what is causing it.
if treatable then what vet say's.If it's not then basically baby proof your house.Move things the dog might not see sticking out and could walk into and try to keep paths the dog normally walks clear.
keep he/she happy and Let it ride till it's a noticeable prob and then you may need to discuss the euthanizing option but rarely is that needed unless it old age causing blindness.I've seen a few blind dogs that led long happy life just little more work involved.
good luck!

Try to eliminate clutter in the home if he is an inside dog. Try and eliminate sharp low objects. Soon he will get the hang of things. He will learn to cope with this, if he is not very old he will do better.. Try to make him as comfortable as possible. I had a small pug like this, and he learned to deal with it. He bumped into the coffee table once in a while, then eventually remembered it was there. He was still as playful and happy as ever.

I talked to him alot. He always knew when a stranger pulled up. He would bark, but she memorized the sound of my car and my hubs truck, and would never bark when we pulled up and came in the door.

I would have to say keep him as an inside dog if he is not already. It will take lots of time and patience but is worth the effort.

I have a female red dashund who is 10 years old and almost blind in one eye. I took her to my vet and he has a eye dr that comes in twice a month. He will do the surgery for appromately $1,000. I love my dog so much and can`t deal with losing her right now so surgery may be the best answer. Right now I do not move any of my furnniture in any of my rooms so she can get around. She is spoiled but she has spoiled me too.

If its an older dog it may have cataracts, this is what happened to my lady and it was so painful to watch her bump into things that eventually she had to be put down. She was around 14 or so then. You should likely check with your vet and see what they suggest as a reason.

This is a hard question. It is very scary for an animal when they lose their sight. Do not take him to places where he is not familiar with. Try to keep him in rooms where he knows everything. Give him a lot of attention and love, more so that ever before. You be his eyes for him. He is going to need your love and guidance more than ever before.
