By "committee," I assume that you mean the Council of Nice at which early Christians codified the works to be included in the books of the bible.

First off, the works that were chosen were felt to compliment each other best. While the "Harmony" between the four chosen Gospels is far from perfect (only two contain the birth narrative), all of them contain the Crucifixion. Also, any "Gospel"-like work which failed to include this even would have been excluded or appended (one of the Gospels originally ended with the Crucifixion, with the stories of the resurrection added later).

Secondly, the included Gospels all take a narrative form. Some of the excluded works are less of a narrative, and more a loose collection of quotation or observations, more like a journal or diary.

Finally, there is an opinion that the early church made an attempt to suppress the role of women in the church. The argument is that a Gospel by either of the Marys would have given legitimacy to roles for women as disciples or even as rabai. This opinion is borne out with defacement of early Christian artwork and the persecution of women during the Inquisitions.

Over 40 texts were excluded by the "Committee." Don't imagine for a moment there were not powerful political interests and motives involved. Times have not changed. Many of the books of the Bible were written long after the authors were dead. The difference with Mary, and the others, is that they taught God could be reached through YOU rather than the institutional Church. The implications of that are obvious, and part of what the later Protestant reformation was about. Read the Disappearance of the Universe for some fascinating insights about all of this. Or better yet, go to the source and read The Course in Miracles. Godspeed.

The key word is loyal! The so called scrolls of Mary Magdalene don't agree with the rest of the bible. I believe Mary Magdalene was a loyal follower just like the rest so that means she would agree with them.
In other words she wouldn't have written those scrolls. If she did they would agree with the rest. Because Christ & His church is not divided. They're in harmony.

There are other gospels not included in the Bible. Mark Matthew Luke and John, were all that are needed by most scholars. There are Gnostic books available for anyone to read . The Da Vinci Code (book) is, and has confused many people. Read more, about Leonardo Da Vinci he was a prankster.
Just what committee are you referring to?

Because Mary Magdelene was Jesus' wife and lover and the committee wanted to make Jesus look devine.
That and because they told everyone she was a prostitute.
It wouldnt look good.
Go read The Da Vinci Code :)

it was written like 200 years AFTER Christ...while the 4 gospels were written within 40 years..the authors were either the apostles or friends of the apostles who had Christs teachings. The gospel os Mary Magdalene is a GNOSTIC gospel which teaches salvation through secret knowledge instead of Throught Christs Blood at the cross...This conflicts w/ the old testament and is heresy!! The Gnostic gospels also have many historical and geographical errors>trust the Bible as the inspired word of God!!! god bless.

The Committee? Don't know who they are. But scholars of a number of different Faiths who had no secret Hidden agenda's decided on the validity of the books included in the final Cannon of scripture. There were many false groups that were opposed to Christianity that wrote texts and gave them names of People related to Christ.

The alleged gospel / writings of Mary Magdalene date from 150 or more years after Jesus Christ.

So they were not written by the original Mary Magdalene.

Cordially,
John

This is why (read carefully)...

Pistis Sophia book I
It happened now, when Jesus finished saying these words to his disciples, he said: "Do you understand in what manner I am speaking with you?" Peter leapt forward, he said to Jesus: "My Lord, we are not able to suffer this woman who takes the opportunity from us, and does not allow anyone of us to speak, but she speaks many times."

Pistis Sophia book II
Now it happened when the First Mystery finished saying these words to the discipls, Mary came forward. She said: "My Lord, my mind is understanding at all times that I should come forward at any time and give the interpretation of the words which she spoke, but I am afraid of Peter, for he threatens me and he hates our race."

The Dialogue of the Savior
Mary said, "Thus with respect to 'the wickedness of each day,' and 'the laborer is worthy of his food,' and 'the disciple resembles his teacher.'" She uttered this as a woman who had understood completely.

Peter was against the woman, that's why Peter's disciples (the Church fathers), didn't include her gospel or any scriptures written by woman, and attempted to destroy them.
