I am an English teacher and a stickler for grammar, but I recognize that not every person on Yahoo Answers is proficient with English.
This is for bcmike22 (I think that is the name): The United States does not have an official national language, and citizens of the United States are not the only Americans. Anyone who lives on the continents of North or South America can call themselves Americans. I am tired of hearing complaints from ethnocentric people who want to kick out immigrants and put down non-English speakers. WE were not the first inhabitants of this continent--native Indians and Mexicans were both here before we were. We need to be more tolerant in this land of the free.

Nobody has the right to make fun of you. I was told in one of my linguistics classes that you can't make fun of people who speak with dialects which don't fit grammatically with proper English. It's not fair to make someone feel badly for something that they might not know is wrong (of course, that really only applies to things that aren't hurting other people!) So if you make a spelling mistake or a grammatical error, and someone makes fun of you, then just tell them that it's a mistake, it's not going to kill anyone, and then try to remember the "correct" way for next time. And if you don't remember, no biggie!!! It took me so long to remember not to end a sentence with a preposition, because I hadn't been taught what a preposition was yet!!! And I'm going into my fourth year as an English major!!! So don't worry about it!
Besides, what is grammar anyway but something arbitrary that someone made up? It's a set of rules that help us to figure out this crazy language, but messing up a little here and there is hardly of any consequence.

There's no apostrophe in the plural of "errors". You made it possessive with the apostrophe.

The right that people have to point out your spelling and a grammatical error is two-fold:
1) We live in the United States. If you're an American, it's your National Language. Learn it.
2) There are literally a plethora of different online and hardware-based spelling and / or grammar check software that's free to use and at your disposal. If you submit questions that make you look incompetent or just plain lazy, you should be fully prepared for the consequences of everyone thinking you're a retard.

Technically, no one has the right to be mean over some silly mistake. Personally, I think mistakes just give less credibility to your answer and make you seem less intelligent, but I make mistakes all the time, so I can understand. But people have no right to be cruel about it because, hey, we're only human right? Everyone has the right to be wrong, no one, unless they are perfect, has the right to be mean about it.
