Fountain Valley, CA - Mild weather changes that include sunny weather almost year-round, with a refreshing summer coastal breeze. Ten minutes to Huntington and Newport Beaches, an hour and a half from nice, large& clean lakes for watersports and camping, 15min from Bolsa Chica Beach (where camping is allowed), 2 hours to Big Bear and Arrowhead Lodging and ski resorts (Snow Summit), 4 hours from Las Vegas, John Wayne Airport is only 30min away, many tourist sites to see within an hours' drive time. Not to mention, disneyland and knotts berry farm within a 30 drive, various farmers' markets and fairs on the weekends...within 10 min... Many, many things to do that don't cost an arm and a leg!!!

You get the convenience of the Big City Shopping and Bus Lines, not to mention the incredible night life in the surrounding cities... while avoiding the "Surf City" Tourists in the summer. Job wages are higher and housing is not hard to find if you have good credit and a job lined up. Most people that I know there have lived in either Fountain Valley or Huntington Beach for over a decade and have little/no desire to move out of town. I've also noticed that most that DO move return within a year or so.

I've lived all over the country, been to most of the major cities (several of the tiny speck on the map cities) across the States and the best place I've ever lived/been is Ocean Springs, Mississippi. It's just outside of Biloxi. It is a beautiful little coastal town that is filled with all the beauty and charm smalltown mississippi has to offer. It isn't podunk or backwater hick in any way, and it is close enough to bigger cities that it doesn't feel like a tiny little town. I have never lived in a more beautiful, friendly, amazing place and I was very sad the day I had to move from there. I miss it a lot, and my heart and prayers goes out to it as it rebuilds after last year's hurricanes.

And by the way, Houston does NOT suck.

Iowa City.

It has some of the entertainment factors of a big city (night life, good concerts) but is small enough that you won't be stuck in traffic for two hours a day. Also, you can walk down the street by yourself anytime or anywhere in Iowa City. People there tend to be very liberal, open-minded people. For the people who are no longer in college, there are plenty of good neighborhoods away from the University where things are quiet and peaceful and have the charm of a small town.

Martha's Vinyard, Massachusetts. It's gotta be the most quaintest place in the world. You got that old world, nautical, new-england charm its such a great place to be. Plus it helps when such celebrities including James Taylor and Bob Villa live there. The only way you get there is by ferry (30 minutes) or by your own boat. You basically ride your bike around shop and eat the local food. It's so expessive to live there, up into the millions. But great to indulge your self for a weekend (or a whole week)

By the way, Houston sucks.

San Diego...
The climate, beaches and the laidback attitude and sunny disposition of the people..
If it were a little cheaper, it would be ideal. Right now, its just the best.
