Sometimes the direct approach is best, just ask. But if that seems too bold for your liking, look for the following signs. Pay attention to your conversations with the person in question.
1) Does this person show a special interest in having a conversation with you and, once started, make an effort to keep that conversation going?
2) Has this person taken a sudden interest in your life and hobbies? This is a sure sign that he or she is interested in something.
3) Other elements of body language include frequent eye contact, holding your gaze and looking down before looking away.
4) Does the person you're wondering about just plain smile at you a lot?

I dont think a phone conversation is any indication that someone likes you. Thats great that he can communicate, thats always nice. Ive talked on the phone with a male friend for 3 hours before, that didnt mean that Im now his girl.. It just means that we are good at the art of talking/exchanging ideas, concepts and or debating...
The indication as to if he likes you will start when you guys are face to face and interacting with one another. Phone chatting is great but its not like seeing someone in person.

Well obviously if you talked for that long he must like you a bit. Some people like to chat on the phone to get to know someone first, to see if they have things in common or would it be just a waste of time. Now I'm not say that it's a waste of time but gibe it a chance and just be honest and see where it leads.

Your answer lies with time. Do you think you know him well enough in such a short time to make such a decision. Remember this. Patience is a virtue. In time, you'll know the answer when is love also evolves with time and he acts as your best friend in some cases. On the other hand he wont laugh at you , no matter what. Either he is a very good friend who just likes to talk a lot, or he likes you. It really depends on what the conversation was like. If it felt like a lot of flirting and fun stuff like that, then yes, he probably is interested in you. It also depends on what kind of guy he is. Does he have a lot of friends who are girls? If so, he might just feel like a friend.

its hard to tell with just that info and you asking just going off this sounds like you want him to like you. but talking for that long it does seem like you have very good chemistry with him.
