No, dogs are a reflection of their owners.
I think certain breeds *pitbulls* are responsible for more attacks because certain breeds are more desireable amoungst a group of people *low income*. Because these people are generally less responsible or have less time because of working long hours the dogs become a less social and more aggressive, thus creating the "bad Breed" myth. If these irresponsible owners all thought poodles were as much a status symbol instead of pit bulls the legislation would be directed towards the poodle.

I don't think a ban is fair....
But I firmly believe that owners of any large, strong breed should be required to go through at least 2 levels of obedience training. There are many pet owners who are capable of doing training on their own, but this way no one would fall through the cracks. It would educate both the dog and the owner. And if the trainer spotted an owner who clearly didn't care, or was unable to pass the obedience school, they would be forced to relinquish their dog for adoption to a new owner.

life isnt fair
I believe there should be bans on certain people having kids - I beleive people should be more responsible when breeding cats or dogs but unfortunately they are not....
I think if people were allowed only to breed cats and dogs that have been proven to be worthy of being bred we wouldnt have half the problems we do.. and breed bans wouldnt need to exist because lets face it there are bad examples of dogs within every breed....

No, I don't think its fair.
What I do think is fair is that people who want this vicious animals should be the ones to take care of them..in cages where they can be the ones who get attacked.
I have a doberman who is the sweetest thing, who plays well with my other dog but who is a bit shy of strangers because he was previously abused by his owner. You know what.. I don't let strangers just reach down to pet him when he is nervous. He is never out of my control..always leashed on our walks. And while I don't think he would ever think to bite or attack anyone or anything, I don't know for certain and so it is better to be cautious.
You should NEVER try to pet an animal who is nervous or anxious that you don't know. It takes time and trust to be established for all animals before they would be comfortable with you messing with them then.

No, responsible pet owners are the ones that are being hurt..People say that this breed is vicious, blah, blah, blah. It all depends on the dog. There was a rottweiler in my neighborhood when I was a kid and she was the biggest baby. She was a well loved family pet, who received all the attention she needed. What I don't like about it is that we are slowly losing our freedoms for safety. Ask yourself would I rather be free or safe?

No, because not all dogs of a certain breed are bad. Most are perfectly good animals. It is bad breeding and the raising of the dogs that make them bad.

NO it isnt fair. everyone says pitbulls are mean and evil etc. but not all are. there are a ton of stories of pitbulls saving people.
i know pitbulls are becomming illegal in states and its not right.
my pitbull is 1 now and i will keep her forever , if ohio made them illegal i would honestly move out of state just to have her
having a pet is a lifelong commitment just like a child!

Yes, dogs bred for their viciousness and other traits that compliment them as killing machines shouldn't be allowed. They only end up attacking innocent people (through no fault of their own, its their nature) and getting put down.
