I've seen many of my friends having them and I witnessed one getting one, but I really don't know what the point is of getting a hicky. Any enlightments?

Yes, it's a way for the person giving the hickey to mark their territory and that's all it really is. That way others will know this guy/girl is taken.

I think it can mean she's mine and she or he is taken. But it's could also just be something that happened in the heat of the moment. You to were so involved in each other you got rough. And that's what happens sometimes. People give people hickeys when they've only been dating for a short time. They may not even be boyfriend and girlfriend. So It doesn't necessarily mean she's mine or he's mine. It could, but it definately means they really enjoyed each other, and they had a good time last night!!!!
